The "uninvited guest" quest, where you catch the thief in Cassardis, isn't appearing. Isn't it supposed to right after you beat the hydra? That's what faqs say, and they don't say anything about prerequisites.

They were sort of correct, since I think you are meant to go escort the hydra head to Gran Soren right after you kill it.

That is some ugly gear. They should just wait a bit and release a big patch with a lot of monster hunter gear or somethin'. Hell they could add a drat rathalos or kutkus and I would shell out 10$ easy.

That would require Capcom to admit to western audiences that Monster Hunter still exists. :v:

No, it definitely happens before you go to Gran Soren. I've done the beginning section many times and I always went back to the town to do the well quest, uninvited quest ect. after the hydra fight.

Well then what's going on? Going off this I've done all the other quests before hitting gran soren, only uninvited guest isn't appearing (you talk to the innkeeper, right?). The hydra head is all ready to go, I just need to tell Mercedes that I'm ready to escort her.

Also, does that augment that makes you move one rank faster than your current encumbrance make you go any faster if you are already very light?

I picked up this game a week or so ago and I've been hooked.
The one problem I have is that I always forget to visit riftstones to update my pawns so they always end up horribly underleveled and forcing me to rush in and raise them instead of filling everything with arrows.

My PSN is CaptainDeathface and my pawn is Lilleth and she would love to see other peoples crazy worlds of horrifying beasts.

Is Mercedes at the waycastle or the encampment? Could be that it only appears after you say yes to Mercedes and before you get to Gran Soren, though that would be really obtuse.

The encampment. Oh screw it, I'm going to finish that quest. I SWEAR that this quest is available if I come right back. I think the last time it is available is if you talk to ser Maximilian and start the wyrm hunt stuff.

Accept her quest. You're probably just stuck in an earlier main quest state and there's no time limit on meeting her at the waycastle as far as I know.

Warrior is surprisingly effective against flying postgame enemies. Its jumping attack has so much vertical that it's really easy to bat succubi out of the air.

Impact is surprisingly ineffective though. I've been putting entire combos into poo poo with it and it's not even causing staggers. Has anyone noticed it make any difference?

Also, where can I get some cool warrior weapons in the postgame? I bought the huge spiked ball club from the merchant in the Everfall which had the highest damage value of anything I've seen before, but then I saw a pawn with a giant sword I'm pretty sure I've never seen before, and is thus probably better. Some people have also mentioned getting warrior weapons with over 1000 attack power which I've yet to find.

Intro music owns, but what is that wistful song that gets played quietly in the background sometimes in game (seemingly at random)? It's mostly female vocals and a nice melody that I can't make out very well. Might be because I have my TV volume turned down quite low when I'm playing. I have looked up the OST online but all of the track names except 2 are in Japanese and there are a shitload of tracks. I definitely do not remember that many separate pieces of music in the game.

I don't know what it's called but if it's the one I'm thinking of, it plays when you go outside at night. It's also in one of the cutscenes after you kill the dragon and is a lot more noticeable there. I really like it, along with most of the music in this game, I just wish there was more looping music since the Everfall's theme is awesome but is one of the only places with continuous music. Most areas just have a brief theme that plays once when you enter them.

The best weapons generally come from killing the online ur-dragon. Better start watching gamefaqs!

The second best weapons generally come from the Everfall vendors at ~500k gold, and the third best from beating the Dragon as whatever class uses that weapon type. So you're pretty close to the best you can get already, just try to upgrade/dragonforge it.

I think the weapons I got from the dragon weren't elemental making them worse than the ones I already had.

I've heard you can transfer items using pawns by gifting, or is there another method? I was thinking of using this to get some awesome gear on a lowbie if I do restart the game. I kinda want to restart, but I'm like level 30 with 2 vocations maxed so it's kinda a pain. I really want to get that hero achievement and I know I missed a lot of quests already. It's a shame you can't have multiple characters in this game, you just get the one save and if you start a new game that's it.

Nonelemental weapons are generally better if you have a mage pawn to enchant you, since the mage enchants seem to replace the inherent elemental effect instead of adding on top of it, nonelemental weapons will have higher strength, and mages will have higher magic scores than elemental weapons.

The guest quest pops up after you tell her you will meet her at the waycastle. I am not sure why it's only after that while all the rest of the quests are after you kill the hydra. Just pop over to the encampment, tell her toodles, then run back to cass for the quest.

Nah, I found some daggers better than the ones I got from killing the Dragon that weren't from the Everfall vendor. Was from the smith I think actually.

The Beholder thing? It's resistant to magic; I think you can hurt it magic when you disable its shield by stabbing the eye. It'll probably still shatter all your pawns but aside from the spell noodles it's not too strong against your own character.

It takes no damage from my physical attacks except when it performs some specific attack that's quite hard to elicit. That swallow thing takes me down to like 1 HP. I guess it would be okay if I could access my stored items, luckily I had a stone on me and could teleport to some rest camp and escape. Next time I'll bring dozens of pots. I'm quite excited because it's the first enemy I've found that I couldn't immediately beat with no reloads/no deaths.

The evil eye's barrier remains up until you stun it, and does protect against physical attacks. Pretty sure you have to either lop off enough tentacles (you can hit them once they're far enough away from his main body) or else pummel his eye while he's doing a casting animation.

That dude's a fucker, immune to damage while he is glowing blue, you have to stay close to him and goad him into trying to bite you then you can hit him. If you gently caress him up hard enough when he goes vulnerable he will cough out his eye and you can wail on it to take him down fast. If you're a sorcerer the only spell I found that hurts him is bolide, which knocks him down and cuts off all his tentacles. Another thing you can do while he is glowing blue is kill his tentacles when they pop out of the ground, which severs them from his body too.

Put a great cannon on top of a ruinous sigil and watch what happens when an enemy gets close. Don't wait until you've played mystic knight for hours and hours before trying that like I did.

I've been doing that (and vortex), but I was always so-so on how necessary the great cannon was in this setup. Although, now that I know hitting it makes it shoot it's been amazingly helpful. Group of bandits? Plunk down a cannon just outside of aggro range and smack the poo poo out of it until all the bandits are dead. Rinse, repeat as necessary.

Full Moon Slash makes this even better since it hits 3 times in rapid succession and then a fourth just after, you can fire so many shots using it (especially with multiple cannons).
