Dang. I just finished the Idle Loops that was posted recently, the edited one with the bonus speeds and stuff. Now I have no idea what to buy with the prestige points!

I was thinking experience overflow, chronomancy, and spatiomancy. Those bonuses are never not appreciated, and experience overflow just makes everything easier, probably.

Build what you already have a lot more and you'll get it.

I believe you need 12 Earth to unlock metal IIRC.

The metal thing is also hot loving garbage because you spend metal, then you get to blow 30s while your tree income is halved and then another 30s with your fire income halved.

Oh that's actually worse than you make it sound. Each unit of metal you make results in one extra second of time you have income getting halved. So if you, say, get 80 metal, that's 160 seconds you have to wait before you can get more metal and also get your normal wood/fire income. I cannot stress enough how important it is to build fire prestige as a result because having no/low income bonus there hurts a whoooole lot.

Oof, I was really liking that elemental idle at the start but it soured on me more and more as I kept going. It's just soooo absurdly stingy with giving you permanent QoL unlocks - I still have to manually do practically everything even after many hours in. If I didn't have a turboclick script I would've given up a while ago because of how you need to click upgrade buttons literally hundreds if not thousands of times. And I was giving the benefit of the doubt to what its doing with metal but holy poo poo. Temporary automation in an idle game is a hard sell, and I imagine there has to be a way to design it to not feel like a total scam, but boy is it not this. I wasn't even able to find out how you unlock water - did a deep run to build up 50 metal capacity and that wasn't even enough to show the lock. Assuming it even is metal that its locked behind - it's not like the game tells you.

Not for the upgrade buttons. And for chopping trees a turboclicker is still stronger because there isn't a maximum click rate.

Any idle game where I have to mash clicks myself is out of the question due to RSI, so I never experienced cookie clicker for example.

I played the game until I managed to get some good automation going and then the big prestige upgrade I was working towards was the ability to hold the button to get more fire. That's when I quit :haw:

I prestiged and I didn't even see the hint of being able to automate so I closed the tab and I am never coming back. I have an autoclicker (all hail roboter.jar) but i hate having to bounce around for upgrades constantly between three elements.

Hello yes I heard there was a lovely trainwreck here and...

 Finally managed to get 20 earth so I could actually upgrade air and turn earth's prestige bonuses on and rediscovered why water's unlock wasn't obvious - you have to buy the power to automate earth before the sign showing that you need 80 metal appears. Also metal's prestige requires something like 12.5 million chops of wood per point so yeah, hope you've been investing in the upgrade that makes every unit of earth count towards how fast you chop per second. If you wanna see it yourself for some reason, get 120 metal. Water's prestige requires 100 million water and... well, let's just say you need an auto-clicker and a lot of morbid curiosity if you wanna reach the end of this as it stands.

oh and also, really loved saving up prestige currency to buy the upgrade to keep Grow Forest on prestige, which reveals... a followup upgrade to increase the preserved levels from 0 to 4, because whoops it turns out I only paid to preserve the building's unlock, not its levels, silly me. What a relief that I no longer have to go through the laborious effort of clicking a button 5 times to unlock the very first production building at the start of every run. And if I save up even more for the pricier 2nd upgrade I get to preserve a whole four levels out of the 150+ I tend to have by the time I prestige! Wowie zowie, that'll save me seconds of time! Well, okay, I should probably be buying the preservation upgrade for more important things anyway, like the metal unlock so I can use it right away. Oh no, nevermind, for some godforsaken reason the game slowly rolls out which preservation upgrades are even available from the least important to most. Wish the game told me what advances that!

The more I talk about it the more baffled I am that I put up with it for as long as I did. It's like the upgrade system was meticulously designed to be as unsatisfying as possible.

oh and I realized near the end: lol that most of the game window's real estate is dedicated to what is little more than a glorified tab selection menu

Gently enveloping the target with indiscriminate love.
The crew related upgrades increase the speed which you get more crew upgrades. Choosing those is the idle way.

Usi ended up at a point for me, where I want to keep playing, but don't want to put in the effort to plan effectively.
Does anybody have good base setups for early sector 74?

What VictualSquid said. The crew XP bonuses are 30x bonuses for each type, which is huge. So depending on which crew member you got mastery on, you grab the primary of the next crew member you plan on mastering. It basically lets you get the following 4-5 masteries in pretty short order. Like perform a prestige reset, and you should pretty much be in position to get the next mastery, as long as you have been able to put a little bit of time in that crew member already.

Because it’s not just the raw 30x multiplier, that gets you a bunch of stats points that get additional bonuses for extra xp on that member, as well as unlocking other bonuses.

I already used my first one on the module slot (micromanaging them is a huge pain) but I'll put the next ones in the 30x masteries for sure.

Replace a center green with a Red:

Early Farming

Later Farming when reducer is boosted, and you are running dedicated setups. Swap a red part into the yellow space when needed.

The best first upgrade probably would've been starting biosleeves, actually. Getting further mastery points might be rough without that, since each of those 3 sleeves is 3 more chances to put points in a mastery bar.

E: the best spread for your first five mastery points is generally starting sleeves > acumen xp > ingenuity xp > proficiency xp > engineering xp.

Thanks! I thought I was decently optimized, but didn't realize the booster works on drain reduce.... good jump up.

I don’t think the booster works on the drain reducer. It’s just that you want to find the spots that get 4 boosters onto a production tile. That will outweigh any other configuration for base 1 & 3. Base 2 is max 3 boosters. Base 4 is more because the boosters have more range.

I'm pretty creeped out
by 74 you also want to be splitting your base runs crew wise - a run for only parts and mats with related crew skills and no components running, and then a respec on industrial where you switch to your component setup after an hour or so. the first run levels the buildings, second ramps the prestige rewards. I usually do it just before a prestige because retrofits handle most of the rest and if you're out of sleeves you're probably doing too many things in a run

New Melvor expansion coming out June 13th, looks like it's largely blocked off as a new type of content and not a vertical expansion a la Herald or integrated into the base game like AoD.

Speaking of Melvor, just finished Cartography Hex Mastery :toot: was kind of in the mood to take a break from the game, so it was nice to have something to just passively idle for a few days. I totally forgot the reward doubled the bonuses from active POIs, too, that's pretty insane. Guess it's finally time to stop putting off Impending Darkness...

edit: Oh, sick, Abyss expansion will be Ancient Relics-compatible, I was worried about that. This is definitely not the kind of game where I'd want to start a second character. New relics too, that's awesome

Yeah, Carthulu boosted active PoIs are extremely good. I discovered the other week when prepping and doing the final Herald setup and kill that Spider Forest w/Cart actually makes you fully immune to slowing effects, which is situationally amazing.
