I work for a bunch of dealerships and the most expensive headlight assembly I've seen so far was $1700. I think it was for a fancy Audi. $1300-$1400 is pretty common though.

This seems fitting to post here, I know you americans had your own scrappage scheme during moneygeddon a few years back. Here are some of the details that were recently released. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1448162&mid=0&i=0&nmt=RE%3A+Scrappage+carnage+detailed&mid=0 https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/car-scrappage-scheme-in-2009 Also most of the cars are still sitting around on an airfield. http://www.urbexforums.com/showthread.php/12139-Scrappage-Scheme-Grave-Yard-March-2011 http://rovertech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=123817 Also daily phail link http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1263548/Now-did-say-left-car-The-28m-backlog-perfectly-driveable-vehicles-waiting-SCRAPPED.html Although these are fairly old links so I wonder if they ever bothered to strip and crush any of them. It wasnt like the us scheme where they were forced to destroy the engines.

The random hunk and hulk figures, combined with the pro-native-american (not a bad thing, just pointing it out) sticker, coexist sticker, and innocent my little pony figures is crazy enough, but the naked chick riding a dragon takes the cake.

You would think with the large greenhouse/beltline (compared to a compact sedan), small engine, and battery pack in the back it would have a better weight distribution. I guess not.

JazzmasterCurious posted:I agree. Even though the cars had to have a good MoT status when they were scrapped, a lot of things can happen in the timeframe from the MoT to the scrapping - sudden mechanical failures, crashes, etc. that would cause it to fail its next yearly check-up. I had a friend who got £3000 off a new suzuki sx4 for scrapping his corsa, he is a terrible driver and until I asked him about it wasnt serviced for about 60,000 miles. This thing somehow managed to scrape past MOT for several years somehow and it was a complete shitter. One of the rear wheels fell off after he got some poo poo mechanic to replace the wheelbearings, the oil pressure sensor came loose causing hot oil to hit the exhaust manifold causing a massive smokeshow and countless other things i cant remember. A few months ago he rolled the SX4 on the motorway doing stupid speeds in the wet trying to overtake a load of cars in the most reckless way possible, somehow managing to not crash into any barriers or other cars luckily. I'm kind of glad he doesnt have a car now tbh.

Craigslist buyers are the worst. Trying to sell my son's POS PT Cruiser for $2500 and these are the kinds of people that reply. Makes me wonder if for some reason this whole economy in the shitter thing is due to the fact that nobody can negotiate prices anymore! (Also, yes, I was kinda dickish but I'm tired of these people. New rule: never respond to "What's the least you'll take?")

I've never understood that negotiation tactic. It's sort of like when they ask you "what were you making in your last job?" during a job interview. Granted, I haven't had much luck on negotiating on the spot either.

Making an actual number offer and being prepared to provide reasons as to why you think your offer is valid. Of course, be aware that those craigslist fools can exist on both sides of the sale. Try to avoid dipshits that have an unreasonable price and are very insistent on "NO LOWBALLZ! PRICE IS SET IN STONE!".

Getting a good deal definitely requires a lot of work, especially in an age where anyone can google a thing and get its "true value," which somehow transforms the average owner into a haggler supreme.

Point out some flaws that weren't mentioned. Well I only brought X much. This is where you have extra money in an other pocket and you can dicker until you are either happy with the price, or go home.
