mynameisjohn posted:If you are pressing play on an ableton set list you can't really just throw songs in mid-way through and respond to your personal mood or the vibe of the room. What the gently caress are you talking about? Just using Ableton or Traktor doesn't make you Steve Angello, it actually means you have the ability to be even more flexible in your track selection because you can have 20,000 songs cued up instantly instead of having to break your back lugging CDs or vinyls around

Here's an A-Mac edit of a Reset! remix that you might like http://soundcloud.com/djamac/grafitti6-annie-you-reset-me-a-mac-moombahton-edit My favorite Reset! song is from the Mad Decent Vol. 1 compilation, the Bosco Delrey remix. They're doing a show tonight at the venue where I work, 285 Kent Ave in Brooklyn. Pretty excited since there's also a Girl Unit show next door at Glasslands with Dubbel Dutch, should be a good night! e: didn't even read the brooklyn vegan link that says exactly everything I did OH WELL!

There's something for everyone, even you Mr Cat Avatar Man. I totally agree with you on Knife Party by the way!! I've been somewhat of a Rob Swire connoisseur throughout his whole career and let me tell you, those Aussies sure do know how to make the best dubstep bands!

a milk crime posted:I think that VIPs of remixes - especially this one - only work if you/the crowd knows the original one, especially in this case. I don't think that the VIP mix of their Jessie Ware remix is like that great of a track to begin with, and it seems like it would only work if everyone knew what was going on. There are times where VIPs are just as good as the original, but that doesn't always happen (ie. Footcrab VIP is cool and works well on its own) Agreed on all counts, song still owns though

Gotta give this a shoutout, most of the trendy trap poo poo I hear is terrible but these guys do well by keeping it spare and loving killllling it with the tuba hits or whatever that poo poo is. Will it spoil me posted:I don't know if this is the right place to ask, or if the NYC thread is, but what are some small time clubs (more so dj venues) that play EDM and real house-y style dance music in NYC? Obviously not guido, fist pumping poo poo, but underground and burgeoning DJs spinning fun tracks to dance to. Preferably a place that lets people under 21 in, like 285 Kent. Go to Output if you have a fake ID, it's not hard to get in there and they have by far the best bookings of the venues in the city
