Stivitybobo just set a new WR for Banjo Kazooie with a 2:08:55 ingame. On the 15th anniversary of Banjo Kazooie and in a race no less. He said he's done with the game now but I think he's said that before.

A new trick in OoT has brought the Any% time under 20 minutes. It involves falling into a load-zone on the same frame as you enter a fall-zone in the castle escape sequence. The trick skips the Stalfos fight and the majority of the castle escape, and looks as insane as it sounds.

The basis for the trick was discovered a few weeks ago, and people were looking for ways to do it by hovering off of falling rocks with some success but no reliable setups and a lot of RNG. A few days ago someone found a way to do it by sliding off of a falling rock instead of hovering in a TAS. And so sockfolder found a semi-consistent setup on console, and nedeahs(aka pydoyks) improved his any% run.

It's funny because he has an even newer route and the WR run had a bad ending anyway.

Everything he says is completely wrong and he is extremely confident about it. Getting cannonless has nothing to do with star rotation, Biinny isn't anywhere near Siglemic's skill level, a 55 in 70 star takes months of work and nobody with a 30 minute 16 star could do it, and obviously it's "Whomp's Fortress" not "Wombat's Fortress".

I have a really hard time believing it isn't parody or a troll.

There was a thread started very recently regarding the use of chosen power-on states, since the startup RAM state is indeterminate and some games actually seed their RNG from uninitialized memory, making it basically impossible to sync with a bot (or at best, it would take ~256 tries).

Feasel actually takes advantage of this for his FF1 runs. The RNG seeds from an uninitialized memory location and he takes advantage of it because it's the same for him every time with a cold power-on. Really interesting run because of how much RNG manipulation it involves and how well he keeps up with it.

If I had to guess, it seems like Siglemic holds two somewhat incompatible positions:

1. The fastest time represents the best run of that game
2. N64 NTSC-J is the highest skilled version of SM64 because it has the most lag optimization

He sees VC as a "lesser" version despite the fact that it's faster, so I guess VC runs that are faster than his time offend him. I could be wrong, though.

Well, with SM64 the best times have always been on N64 except for a brief moment in time where Hyassin had a better time. Japanese VC is also the Shindou version, which is actually slower than N64, so the fastest version isn't really readily available to them at all. I also think there's a difference between a game being faster because one version has a glitch that the other doesn't, and being minutes faster because there's less lag.

In the end though, nobody really cares anymore because Sig is the best player with the best run of the game.
