Just finished the chapter and am I the only one who busted out laughing at the whole bit toward the end of Claire's route with Gabe and the chopper? When I didn't see his body in the cockpit later I was kinda bracing for him to pop out all gnarly in the next room, but nope, Pedro out of nowhere.

I love Leon because that time he stuck a knife through Salazar's hand was probably the most catharsis I've ever had in a Resident Evil game. Plus he has nice jackets and implausible mine cart segments, which are some of my favorite things.

What combat there was I liked alright in the demo, but elements like being actively hunted by the bakers or ammo crafting or resource management in general aren't really present for the judging. It does promise the spectacle of a clan of hillbillies acting like Mr. X if that sounds appealing.

My biggest bugbears in the first game was getting those drat black bars of the screen without loving up the field of view and that the majority of the game is a mostly omnipotent sadist juggling your balls so I never had any real sense of progress until like the last boss. If they can do something about the camera that'd be great, going to wait and see how the plot looks I guess.

I occasionally wonder if Ethan's sheer  is a result of of them wanting to do the FPS player surrogate thing where they didn't want him to exhibit enough personality to distance you, but then they also made his reason for being there personal enough that they couldn't just make him a blank slate.

My issue with early Resident Evil in general is that I've got arachnophobia and a impromptu aversion therapy session used to be in almost every title. I don't get as consistently jittery about it as I used to but I still freak out a little sometimes and am not looking forward to the sewer crawl.

So either he was infected the moment he entered the building, and that immediately bestows regeneration, which doesn't seem likely. I never saw a file or anything about the infection interacting with the healing stuff, but I'd go with it if there was. Also that little thing where apparently Eve doesn't have direct control over Ethan like she does with the Bakers, which is a sign of infection I thought. Even assuming Ethan wasn't infected by a brief jaunt through a moldy house with his hand cut off, the Bakers initial intention to bring him into the family means they almost certainly made drat sure he was infected between the end of the guest house and the dinner party.

The thing I love most about the new Mr. X is that lovely hat. Did the science team that designed him put that in his recommended load out? Was it a decision from the Umbrella marketing to make it seem more/less approachable? Maybe the chopper pilot who flew the Tyrants in just decided his new cap just was not for him and threw it on one of the war frankensteins before take off. I need curiously placed rambling memos to explain it all.
