PT6A posted:So it is a merge, and not exactly as pictured on the sign (where the car in the second lane essentially has no room to get up to speed and merge)? It may seem like a stupid question, but I'm pretty sure North American traffic engineers would try to implement this sort of exit exactly as drawn on the sign. From what I've seen the usual approach here is to have the two lanes of the on ramp merge down to one before it reaches the freeway.

There's been a crazy amount of wrong way drivers in the Valley this year, or at least there seems to be. Is it like that elsewhere too?

driving without winter tires after the first snowfall should be a felony punishable by immediate vehicle and license impoundment, imo.

Blue Footed Booby posted:This. I'd love to have winter tires on for the cold weather, but there are periods where I'd be changing my tires daily. There was a week last year with two days that topped out in the low teens, bookended by days in the fifties. Then you should be switching out your tires daily, or even hourly, if that's the case. This is part of the responsibility of owning and operating an automobile. It is a travesty that the obligation all drivers have towards the safety of others is not hammered into new drivers from the minute they decide they might like to get their learner's permit.

You must signal the direction before giving any input to the steering wheel. Car makers should create a new "no turn signal" which indicates at all times the turn signal is not.

I saw one while walking home from high school. This one had a police escort, so they were driving ahead of the procession and stopping at every intersection to direct traffic so the procession didn't have to stop. The deceased was almost certainly a cop.

Neither of them displayed the set speed, but Hyundai, at least in the Accent I drove, had two lights, one for saying the system was active ("cruise"), and another to say it was determining the speed ("set"). My Matrix only has one and it's the latter, and all it says is "cruise" Yeah my Sonata has CRUISE for the system being on and SET for holding speed. Wonder what the purpose is of having a separate off/on switch for cruise is.

Snow honestly wouldn't be as bad as rain > freeze would be. That ground is so hard half an inch of rain causes standing water for days.
