Instead of being all blue, lasers and shields should use the map color of the Empire in question so it's clearer who is shooting/deflecting who. EDIT: Also, Paradox, please make drat sure that I can rename every star/star system/planet/moon/asteroid that I own. That seems like a no brainer, but every now and then I find a game that doesn't let me do this as much as I want and I get irrationally angry. I don't want the loving Delta Pavonis system, it's supposed to be New Serbia! Fintilgin fucked around with this message at 23:41 on Sep 28, 2015 |

The thing that baffles me about Stellaris is that the time ticks are like two hours long. I think they were stated as ten a day. Which is weird to me. I mean, I get its an abstract measurement, but given your building a huge interstellar empire I was picturing time ticks as being days at a minimum or even weeks or months.

LordMune posted:The tick rate hasn't been looked at in a while, it happens to be functional for dev purposes. We'll be tweaking it, but I can't promise that it's temp because 10 ticks per day might turn out to be the magic number. I'd like the see the time system be more abstract anyway. Like the game starts on 1.1.1 (cycle.pulse.tick) For every 10 ticks pulse increments 1, for every 10 pulses cycles increments 1. (Or something clean and decimal like that) Get away from having it start in the year 2200 (*cough* A.D. *cough*) and be in terms of years/days and just be a abstract time system. This will help with my immersion in realizing I've built a massive interstellar empire in 37 years (137,050 ticks). Refer to cycles in game, not years. Maybe they're a year long, maybe not. It's abstract.

My political map mode mod hides it mostly, but it still appears on buildings and uncolonized territory. I also don't like how the lighting gets a little duller in winter. I haven't actually tried but I bet you could get rid of that dull effect by making a simple mod that goes into map/terrain and copies colormap_summer.dds over the spring/autumn/winter variants.

They haven't shown or said. From the look of the portraits though, I'm guessing it's mostly blinking, twitching mandables, and bobbing heads. Layered 2d art with some movement rules.

Looking at that I think a good DLC/big expansion for HOI4 would be one that takes the game into the mid/late 50s and assumes that the Cold War is going to go hot or at least allow you make it do so.

StashAugustine posted:Yeah if they do Cold War DLC it would have to be some sort of althist thing to extend the timeline through the 50s allowing for a post- peace conference showdown. Yeah, I was picturing more an early coldwar themed sandbox extension that lets you fight some early cold war conflicts after smashing out your version of WW2. Systems driven based off what your history was NOT event driven based off our history. I think a 'sandbox' DLC would be crazy fun too. Have the game randomly generate semi-balanced nations named off regions like the EUIV generator, so you've got Red Texas fighting fascist Chicago in the Great Plains or whatever. Paradox is nuts if they don't do something fun like that. Especially now that they have more robust AI and peace making rules.

Bort Bortles posted:I would go bananas if they announced this. It'd be great, particularly because it would let you fight in unusual places that don't see any WW2 action normally. You'd probably want to raise infrastructure in some harsh areas like Africa just to make them more interesting to fight over. Distribute factories and stuff balanced/random, so Seville could be an industrial powerhouse while the Ruhr is poor. It'd be fun! Add in the random maps from EUIV if you wanted to get really wild.
