FemShep is a straight-up badass soldier and the only dumb holdover is that her armor has boobs.

For what it's worth, the US Army recently introduced female-specific body armor. It doesn't quite have outright boobs, but it does have different proportions for women because the normal armor doesn't fit properly and is more of a hinderance than a help. The new female-proportioned armor feels lighter and is easier to move around in because it fits the body and distributes the weight better.

It's a conceit, but I just imagine that future armor applies this principle to the point that the ceramic/whatever plating is tailored to the individual's body through future-science instead of being mass produced one-size-fits-all, so it's not so bad. Certainly not as bad as swaying butts in the sequels.

As much fun as we make of "What does this Alien's sweat taste like", it's sort of a natural extension of the level of Sperg Bioware put into the game. Still awful, mind you.

What does alien sweat taste like is tame, Fightclub Sandwich and I were playing MP where the other two were on mic talking about Krogan Vaginas for half the match. I don't think either of us said anything during the whole match. I know my mic was muted and I was laughing my rear end off.

Did you know Krogan females have five of them?

I'd dislike aliens too if I'd spent my life being poo poo on by humanity because my Grandfather surrendered to the Turians because he was massively overwhelmed by them, this is kind of why Ashley isn't fond of them, is it an excuse? Not really, but it is a main reason for it.

She's also never spent any time around them before she arrives on the Citadel, and as you near Virmire, she starts to realize that maybe she was wrong all this time. Character Development!

Star Trek and Star Wars have their sexy colorful lady aliens as slave girls. Mass Effect puts them in charge of the galaxy. Progress!

I did like the random drunk dude in ME2 who wonders if the reason all species find Asari attractive is because they're just mind tricking everyone, all the time.

It makes you wonder what they look like to the aliens, especially to the Elcor

Correct. Krogan had advanced enough to "split the atom" as it says in the Codex, but were still fighting with relatively primitive weapons. Think early 20th century level tech. Then the Rachni happened and the Salarians decided to drop in and say hello.

The Nuclear War on Tuchanka was almost 2000 years before the Rachni, basically they were on track with scientific development until the war, then devolved into clans and post-apocalyptic society. But then the Rachni War was almost 2000 years before the Reapers. But then, you get into long-lived species problem again. Where the Asari become procrastinators, the Krogan hold grudges, and nothing gets done.

Pretty sure in the mission in ME3 to rescue Eve, there's a log that talks about the Salarians planning to covertly uplift the Yahg actually.

They were studying the idea, and they had a Yahg there, but they were considering the unintended consequences of uplifting the Krogan. I'm pretty sure they were against the idea, they were just watching them.

The Flashback is about Prothean Observers putting an implant into an early Human. I can't remember if it's referenced in a conversation between Shepard and Javik

Also, you're not doing a lot of the side quests, but are you doing the character specific ones, Wrex's family armor, Garrus & Doctor Love, Tali and the Geth data?

Garrus could have become a legendary figure like Shepard, but it all came down to the hand that he was dealt. If not for being suddenly approached by a group of angry humans wanting everything Garrus had learned during his failed investigation of Saren, Garrus would have lived and died alone, forgotten as soon as the Keepers showed up to cart his body away to the reprocessing vats.

But this isn't exactly true. You can ignore Garrus or decline to take him with you and he will still go to Omega to become Archangel, except instead of being old friends, you will vaguely recognize each other, like "Oh yeah, didn't I meet you in the council chambers that one time?'. And then become best friends by ME3 anyway.

I think the only thing that I hate about the first Mass Effect is that enemies have the same skills as you (kind of) which means that snipers have Assassination. That means they can kill you in one hit and it is loving annoying because snipers are everywhere :argh:

I liked that enemies had tech abilities and could cast overload on you, which a lot of people took to be the game bugging out because they couldn't shoot any of their weapons and never put two and two together. It's the same thing with enemies having Warp and Fire effects in ME3MP.

Don't get me wrong, the fact that biotics and tech skills could be used by the enemy added to the strategy aspect but making snipers able to one shot you in a game that had waaaaaaaay too few autosave flags and (depending on which system you're playing on) load times that are atrocious and you have one of many reasons why people don't like playing Mass Effect 1 as much as 2 and 3

The worst part of that was that snipers could kill the Mako.

I didn't have arrival for my first full playthrough, so there was that reference at the beginning of three to "someone" killing off millions of Batarians by hurling an asteroid into a relay for reasons. Then on my replay, after doing arrival I was a little disturbed to find out that "someone" was me.

Cloning is a thing that happens in ME. Yes, you can kill the "last" Rachni queen. As in she's the last of the old. Except she's also the first of the new.

That could eventually have given the Thorian an entire new perspective on its place in the universe, especially as it started using asari clones to tend to its needs instead of colonist thralls and the mostly-useless creepers.

If I'm not mistaken, there was a planned alternate ending with the Thorian like there was for the Rachni queen, but it was cut for time. And also possibly because it offered a "cure" for indoctrination and they didn't want to deal with that.

I'd read somewhere that the conversations with Garrus and the end of his mission affect how he acts in the next game, like you can either convince him that paragon is good, or that renegade is good through your conversation, then in 2 something-something, but I never figured out what difference it made. Like, is it supposed to affect his loyalty mission, how he deals with Harkin, how he responds if you keep him from killing the traitor? I dunno.

My first playthrough was also as a sole survivor. I was under the impression that Cerberus' goals in 1 had to do with them trying to create a super soldier or a super weapon, which is why they set up the Akuze ambush and why they were experimenting on Toombs, and why they took such an interest in Shepard, and I suspected Miranda of setting up the station attack as a test of whether Shepard was ready or not. Then it turned out I put more thought into it than the developers did.

No, the Quarians are Mormon analogues (by virtue of being the direct analogue of the colonists and the cylons from Battlestar Galactica.), which means she's in her missionary phase: 18-24. Considering that she didn't just start her pilgrimage, probably not just now 18.
