This game is tops. Really dug the single player, and am just digging into multiplayer.

Dear lord trying to get my score up on the gauntlet and I cannot get under 37 seconds. Finding the grenade launcher really helps, but I can't ever seem to keep up my momentum through that first room of cover and dudes. I"LL GET YOU YET LASTIMOSTA.

Side note, there's a grenade launcher above the target range. You can get it if you mantle up onto the highest gun rack near the opening towards the targets. Jump out towards the targets and then double jump back up towards the external part of that ring. It's hanging on the edge of the ring.

It tries to match you with people in your networks, and then if it can't it just throws you into general matchmaking. It's a way to set preferred player groups without murdering matchmaking overall. That's how the devs explained it in a design blog thing if I remember right.

Finally got a sub 33.60 second run on the gauntlet and got my achievement. Now to never run the gauntlet again. Had to edit two runs together to make the video though since recording more than 25 seconds on xbone is difficult. That's why the first ghost is waaay faster. (I also didn't want to scrub through the 8 million failed attempts.)

If you crouch in mid air, it buffers a slide when you hit the ground, which maintains your momentum. It's more buttons than TF1 but since it's buffered you're less likely to miss because of bad timing.

The one caveat is that if you buffer it in the air you cannot change which direction it will slide. It will go in the direction of your initial momentum rather than where you are aiming/looking.

If you wait till your feet barely hit the ground and then slide it'll go where you're aiming.

Honestly it was a huge ordeal just to get below 33.6 for me. Not even going to bother trying to learn how to bunnyhop.

So something I noticed that I really like about how this game handles reloads. It members what stage of a reload animation you were in instead of starting the whole dang thing over, and it remembers if you have a round in the chamber or not. Reloading when empty takes significantly longer than reloading a partial.

It always bugged the hell out of me in games like Destiny when they'd cycle the slide or pump the shotgun even though a live round should still be in there.

Speaking of rodeo, if you can avoid the titan squashing you can you just rodeo the same titan over and over until it dies?

I think my record is 4 rodeos on the same titan before it died. Some people are not very good at defending themselves. My other favorite thing is if they get out to fight you then just call in your titan, theirs will be stuck in the exit animation when it comes down.

Most of of the complaints during the beta seemed to be asinine "why is this not like titanfall 1!" complaints, and then also people thinking that a tech test meant to stress test their servers and netcode was representative of the final games content.

They did improve some things though, like pilot speed and balance stuff.

How big a difference is warpfall? Thinking about rigging up a titan for automode buddy play and I figured the the shielded drop is a waste.

Its pretty darn fast. Though keep in mind that the shielded drop has an AOE DOT that lasts for a good while and you can get pilot or AI kills depending on where you drop it.

Something clicked with me last night and I started being a consistent contributor last night. I'm running the hemlok (which owns) with map hack and cloak. Map hack is too strong, and the hemlok feels just right to me.

I'm also using scorch, the best and strongest robot warrior. One thing I can't tell yet: can flame shield kill a rodeo?

My click moment was when I picked up the G2 and slapped a threat scope on it and started running Phase Shift. It lets me do absurd things on Bounty Hunt, and can even outsnipe the Double Take due to much less bullet travel.

I also started running the random boost, which is hilariously overpowered sometimes and completely obnoxious others. It let me get a pilot turret online within the first minute of a bounty hunt match, which I promptly dropped in one of the spawn zones. I ended up banking over $1000 at the first bank opening.

Other times it gives you phase rewind, which I have never been able to figure out the best time to use.

Yeah, even as a pilot you can get a pretty solid chunk of cash by pinging a bounty titan in the cockpit with any of your guns. Throw a DOT on them to get another stream too.

Generally I throw a firestar at them, pop the cockpit several times till the star is out then start rodeoing until the enemy starts closing in, then I drop my titan on it.

If I can get my Ronin beside or behind a legion or Tone I can usually take them down before they get me. The double electric slash thing really helps a lot with stopping them from just boosting away. Once you get into the DANGER ZONE though you get to play the dangerous game of sword shielding and staying out of punch range until your titan is doomed and then boosting/phase dashing at a group of enemies and mashing nuclear eject.

You phase shifted inside of a larger titan or a piece of geometry, which kills you. If you phase shift into a smaller titan or a person then i believe it kills them.

It works with the human phase shift as well. If you phase shift into an enemy pilot or AI it'll kill them, but if you phase shift into something bigger than you it'll kill you.

Never touch the ground and don't stay in one place to shoot for too long or you will get flanked. The starting guns are pretty good, lots of people still use the R201, and the game is way more fun if you play with friends.

This is a question probably as bad as yesterday's "how I auto-titan??" but do people have good tips on phase shifting? Cloak was my best upgrade, but now with it turning off on gunfire, it's of some limited utility. Phase shift is perfect stealth, but I'm not entirely sure how to use it without risking ambushing myself because I can't see where the enemy is before I unshift. Is there a good rule of thumb to follow about it?

Phase shift is largely defensive rather than offensive, but you can also use it to cross dangerous territory like in that youtube clip I posted last page where i used it to jump across the front of a Legion to get behind him. You can also use it to cross things like firestars/napalm, get out of gravity stars/electric smoke, and if there is a sonar or map hack up and you see a group of enemies you can try to get behind them with it with marginal success.

Here's that clip again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTQf8OmBBhI

And here's one example where I clumsily used it to get behind a few people camping a room.
http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/ConcernedReader/video/23081927

Another couple key things: You can start cooking a grenade while in phase shift land, but if you throw the grenade while shifted it will not come out of shift land. You also cannot activate some boosts while shifted. It'll play the animation, but it won't stick. (EG: Amped Weapons won't be active when you come out of phase shift if you tried to activate it while shifted.)

Edit: I also want to see if you could make use of pre-ramping the Devotion up while phased and pop out at full tilt. I honestly don't know if you can even shoot your gun while phased, but if you can you might be able to use it as a funny way to peek a corner.

You can totally shoot your gun while phased. You can also see other people who are phased at the same time, including Ronin. I believe you can kill them in phase land as well but I've never gotten the chance to try. You can shoot your gun and throw grenades while in phase land, but they stay in phase land. You can also start cooking a grenade and still be holding it when you come out of phase land, so I don't see why you couldn't spin up your gun while phased to hail bullets down when you come out.
