Last year we destroyed 300+ pieces in short order. This year not as many it seems. Being a school night things thinned out by 8:00 pretty sharply. Had a great time taking the kids out. My wife and I split between handing out candy and going around. It's nice to connect with the neighbors.

Today's story in government ineptitude: I finally got my Concealed Firearms Permit in the mail after waiting two months to be processed. I opened the envelope to see my brand new shiny card with my name and all relevant information.

And some random guy is staring back at me where my face should be :what: of course I get it on Friday night when the offices are closed. It's nice to think how my face greeted some random today as well. With stuff like my SSN and fingerprints that are on file with the FBI etc this is fine. dude's, last night did not go the way anyone expected. It is a little soon to decide that the world is coming to an end. I think that it is important to look that not everyone who voted Trump are bigot/racist/everything-ists. The people had to determine between two candidates that likely did not reflect their entire ideals. Turns out things like the 2nd amendment and abortion rank pretty high with a majority of people that are motivated enough to get out and mark their ballot. HRC failed to inspire her group to get out and vote, with a budget astronomically larger than her competitor. I am hopeful we can come together as communities and a country to show love and respect with one another. I have close friends and family that are LGTB, immigrants, people of other faiths etc. and I will be sure that they know I love and support them.

I think after all the hot takes are had the real thing that should be on everyone's mind is that the liberal media is so far off base they don't even know what to do with themselves.

Kick alcoholism in the balls STR.

So a few weeks ago I posted about not being sure if I believed the texts from my wife that she was pregnant. Well - she is! We are eight weeks right now, so still early. We have had our first appointment this week and everything looked good on the ultra sound. This will be our third and likely (99.9%) our last. Pregnancy is probably the worst thing about having kids. My wife gets super sick and can't do much of anything outside of the basics to survive. So for the next few months I will be going to work, then coming home and taking care of the kids, cooking, cleaning etc. With the kids getting older this just gets more difficult to do. I am really not looking forward to it. My job is generally pretty chill as I can do it well but it requires that I am performing at a high level every day the entire day. There are upsides, like pregnant boobs which are awesome :pervert: but can also at times be like museum pieces where it is all look, no touch.

I tried my hardest to get the NES but amazon broke for me too. It didn't update until probably 5 past the hour. I finally got the notification I could add it to my cart and tried to only for it to take me to my cart saying it was empty. I got the site to do that probably a half a dozen times. Then amazon straight locked up and stopped responding.

Had a somber beginning to the day. We went to the funeral of a friend of ours. He was only 30 years old. Stage four cancer. He fought for a few years. Had it licked too. He and his wife have three young children ranging from 5 to under two. They just got home from a trip together and on the ride home from the airport he started feeling really off. Went to the hospital to find out he was having a heart attack. He was placed in a medical induced coma so that they could get his kids and family there to say goodbye. This guy was clean living his whole life and so positive. The take away from words his wife shared was that he always said 'if you can't change it, you might as well enjoy it'.

I truly hate cancer.

Bollocks that is terrible stuff. I am truly sorry to hear that because I am in no way ready should anything like that happen to me.

I am the youngest of five kids and with my own little family growing I have had a lot of perspective happening about how we are at the point of life where we are replacing our parents and how our parents have truly replaced my grandparents. I completely see why there is such a thing as a mid-life crisis. My parents are getting older and it is difficult to see my mothers ailing health. Attending the funeral this weekend was tough because it forced me to think about the future more. I am envious that my kids aren't going to have the kinds of relationships with my parents as my older nieces and nephews. They are likely going to remember their grandma and grandpa that are older and have a hard time moving around and stuff.

Exactly. My granite counter top would be warm in the morning and the dishes would be dry, I could open the washer and some steam would still come out. Now it is stone cold and everything is just wet.

Some hunting around online by my retired dad has pulled up this piece here: https://www.geapplianceparts.com/store/parts/spec/WD21X22276 which I can find online for less than $100, but that is already my tipping point for it being a "maybe" this is gonna work. My model of dishwasher is the GDT530PSD0SS. My dad bought a bitching BOSCH for their kitchen when they reno'd a while back and it is awesome. Crazy quiet, efficient, and does an awesome job so I will probably just go buy one of those. For something that is used every single day I think it is worth it to get a nice one. Black Friday is tricky. I don't really indulge and sure as hell don't go to any stores. How many TVs do people need? My place of business (primarily online retail) has customers that demand Black Friday sales and so we let them have it. We take Thanksgiving and Friday off (plus we don't work weekends) so it makes for a hectic week next week but it's good. People are genuinely happy about what we offer and appreciate the deals and nobody has to leave there house to do it. Additionally we start our thanksgiving sale the week of thanksgiving. It gives us a chance to get a good chunk out earlier to let everyone relax and be in with their families.

The weirdness of the day would have been when a 3.3 magnitude earthquake shook my house this morning. I live in salt lake and that doesn't happen too often but we do live on a major fault and are repeatedly told that 'The Big One' is coming some time.
