I imagine China, a country with the largest standing army will better defend an airfield containing their top of the line J-20s. This isn't the Ugandan national guard. There is no way we would be able to take that air field.

Oh come now, what would they need to defend it from? The Indians would never be this foolish.

We can go pirating when we have the boats.

Unless Badger disagrees, our plane is now named either "Diamonds Aren't Forever" or "Diamond is Breakable".

Sure, why not.

On the flip side of the coin, I guess the game doesn't simulate pilots ejecting, but we could roll for recovery ourselves?

It's assumed you managed to survive unless you decide otherwise (aka, want a new call sign I guess), it's just that getting shot down means going to the end of the plane waiting line.

You know, with the bote, we could potentially start raiding the Dictators lithium shipments, might pay off, also we get to be privateers. Just saying. The Angolan navy is nothing much without its air support.

Edit: Oh, they've some dangerous old Soviet boats, far less plausible than I thought.

You know, going back to my earlier idea, we might not have to blow up a lithium freighter, those AA launchers can't reach the open ocean and his AA boats won't always be in position, we could try and turn a freighter to one of our ports under threat of missile to bote.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Strike package stages off the coast with tanker and EWAR support. Keep our AEW near our base with escorts, the rest in the strike package.

We've been attacking along the same axis this whole time we've been in Angola. They're not expecting an attack from the sea.

We'd have to be a little careful, they've got SA-N-5 "Grail" missile systems on six of their boats, not really that threatening, can only hit a ceiling of 4200 meters at max and use old tech, but something to be aware of.

The Angolan Air Force had three hundred or so craft at the start of this operation, but only around 80-90 are combat airplanes (factoring in that they probably bought a couple more in the years between modern day and the in game date), if they continue to take ten to one losses against us they will be out of planes before we are (assuming a comparable rate of replenishment). Of course we'll be quite shot up mind you.

I think we're all assuming a lack of funding that has not been stated, it's likely the natives have the money to pay us for the targets we hit if they managed to put up an offer at all, they also likely have backers we don't know about who also have money, and they'll likely be in a similar boat to Von Hoff and CO in that we'll be capturing sources of income for them that they will then pay us bonuses out of, and the Lithium Mine bonus was a major moneymaker. But I also know absolutely nothing about these people or this area beyond that it has crab fishing at times and angry people fighting whalers (although less of them now) it so I could also be totally and completely off base.
