I never read Harrison Bergeron but I went back and re-read both Animal Farm and 1984 when I wasn't 14 and holy poo poo Animal Farm is actually a book about how cool and good Lenin was and it's a shame Stalin ruined it, and 1984 is about how capitalism and the bourgeoisie would rather see humanity in an endless dark age where they waste all the resources on social repression and endless war rather than share with the poors.

The only thing you really need to know about Orwell is that he hated Stalin because Stalin wasn't left wing enough.

The problem with uploading your brain to a big cloud server is that you can copy data faster than you can make storage space, so some serial killer who owned a Sports Authority will murder everyone else so he can make trillions cyber-Horatio clones.

only one I have off the top of my head is that they called in a plumber for the bathroom, and the cleaning crew went in right after. One bleached the floor, the other used ammonia.

So everybody evacuates once they start choking and gagging, but the boss man goes right into screaming at the cashiers on the parking lot to get back on register. Which, given that the customers were in the parking lot as well, pretty funny, but some did go back in for a minute to try to avoid getting fired. Fire department showed up, but this was a Pillar of the Community, so nothing happened.

I feel like this bizarre "anyone the left hates counts as Jewish" argument is getting more and more common recently. "Neocon" is an antisemitic slur, making fun of Megan McCain is the most antisemitic thing she's ever seen, and now this. Is it just flak to try to both-sides the issue now that actual Nazis are coming out of the closet on the right?

Part of centrist marketing is that the center is the only safe political ideology for Jewish people. And while there are antisemites on the left, this marketing is mostly about papering over the part where antisemitism is basically a monotonic increase as you move from left to right, aka centrists are not going to confront their own antisemitism.

The one thing really working in their favor is that the only idea centrists talk about as their ideology is replacing democracy with lanyards.

In that light, even stories about mixing with other "whites" could be about miscegenation at their core.
