If I remember correctly from the interviews where it all got explained, he would just keep approving purchase after purchase of $2000 bottles of wine, artwork, yachts, sports cars, mansions, etc. to the point where the paperwork could barely keep up with him and it was just impossible to explain to him that he was hemorrhaging money so fast. Then when he found out he was millions of dollars in debt, he resisted selling anything and tried to blame his accountants and managers for his spending. At first I was wondering how he could possibly spend that much on wine, like, wouldn't he just pass out at some point after, I don't know, 4 or 5 bottles in one go? But I forgot how loving expensive wine can get. Like, holy poo poo dude, if you drink that much, you're not drinking to enjoy the wine, just get the cheap poo poo, there's barely any difference anyway. Wine snobs confuse me.

I was always disappointed by that, particularly since Karen Black was so fantastic and wonderful in Raiders, drinking guys under the table and being pretty drat badass. Yeah, Temple of Doom is what led to the creation of the PG-13 rating, and the first movie to actually be PG-13 was Red Dawn. Wolverines!

Ghost Leviathan posted:It's kinda funny given one of the latest Ducktales eps has his return as Darkwing Duck... sort of. Where he plays Jim Starling, the actor that originally portrayed Darkwing Duck in an in-universe TV show, who doesn't take it well when a revival movie is starring a new, younger actor, even one who is a huge fan and deliberately styled himself after Jim Starling and considers Darkwing his dream role. To the point of trying to sabotage the new actor with increasingly unsubtle and violent methods, and finally going completely mad and after the movie is ruined (mostly thanks to Dewey). AceOfFlames posted:And even that is burying the lede somewhat: at the end Starling goes completely insane and becomes Darkwing's Mirror Universe version Negaduck. Meanwhile Launchpad convinces the new actor (not voiced by Cummings) to become Darkwing for real at which point the actor's name is revealed to be Drake Mallard. Jesus Christ, this sounds amazing.

Skwirl posted:Yeah, but they did that because the video department was bleeding them dry since they made a hard pivot to video after Facebook lied to every media company about how much people wanted video content. They were absolutely mismanaged, but there are other factors. True, I’m just salty because I really liked the video content they were putting out, and now those writers have scattered to the wind and are hard to find content from. It worked out for some (one is now a writer on Last Week Tonight, and another is a writer for American Dad) and I’m happy for them, I just miss the content. Those two who got those good jobs just started a podcast together, though, so that’s good. Anyway, way off topic, so I’ll shut up now.

Quote-Unquote posted:I don't doubt there are a lot of weirdo gamer goons, but I used to play a lot of Destiny and Diablo 3 with goons and only ever had positive experiences with cool guys. Which was nice, because most of the time that I've interacted with randoms in games it's a string of racial slurs punctuated with poo poo about how they 'raped' someone in a game. I pretty much exclusively just play with real life friends nowadays. Same. I've largely stopped playing online games because I loving hate most of the people I interact with when it's random people. Goons are the only people (that I don't know personally) that I'll game with, join a guild with, whatever, because they're generally speaking decent people (or can at least fake it online) compared to the randos I would encounter elsewhere. Diablo 3, as you mentioned, is a good example of that. Regular gen chat was a cespool of racism and rape "jokes". The LLJK goon group was a cool group of goons I'd join for running Rifts. Online gaming is where I adopted my life motto, "People are the worst". It's served me well in the real world the past few years, too.
