The Royal Rumble. It used to be one of the most widely anticipated shows WWE has to offer, outside of Wrestlemania itself. How times have changed. Prepare yourself for 6+ hours of WWE! It will probably not be anywhere as good as Takeover. Preshow: 4pm - 6pm CST(whining about my time zone will not be tolerated) Royal Rumble: 6pm - 10pm CST(whining about my time zone will not be tolerated) Preshow Matches  Bobby Roode defends the United States Championship in the first ever Glorious Open Championship. My guess: Jinder will be hindered.  Poor Revival.  This one could be fun, maybe? Royal Rumble Main Card  The men's Royal Rumble. There are only 18 announced participants thus far, so there is some room for surprises. Somebody you don't want to win will win. Participants: John Cena Roman Reigns Finn Bálor Randy Orton Shinsuke Nakamura The Miz Elias Baron Corbin “Woken” Matt Hardy Bray Wyatt Aiden English Rusev Titus O'Neil Apollo Crews Tye Dillinger Big E Kofi Kingston Xavier Woods  The first ever women's Royal Rumble. Stephanie McMahon will be on commentary for this one. WOMEN'S REVOLUTION!!! There are also only 18 announced participants, so expect heavy reliance on one-time legends appearances: Asuka Ruby Riott Liv Morgan Sarah Logan Sasha Banks Nia Jax Bayley Naomi Natalya Sonya Deville Mandy Rose Mickie James Tamina Snuka Lana Carmella Becky Lynch Dana Brooke Alicia Fox  Triple threat match for the Universal Championship. This one could be a really good hoss-off or a pile of dog poo poo.  Handicap 1-on-2 match for the WWE Championship. This will be an overbooked clusterfuck which will probably overshadow an otherwise excellent match. Shane McMahon.  Raw Tag Team Championship match. Will Jordan finally turn fully heel on Seth?  Smackdown Tag Team Championship. Match of the night potential here.

Man, that promo pic. They aren't even bothering to photoshop Corbin's hair anymore. My picks are Nakamura and Banks but happy to be wrong, just hoping for some cool spots and Roman getting booed.

I'm leaving Philly tonight (will be on a bus during the preshow, saving myself from being dumb enough to watch it) after coming in for NXT. Fun story: today I went and saw the Liberty Bell and then went to a museum over by UPenn, which isn't a super touristy area, but both times like half the people I saw had loving wrestling shirts on. There's just nothing else drawing tourists here in the dead of winter I guess, though this weekend was nice and unseasonably warm

ADR was the worst rumble winner ever. The rumble he won was the worst ever. He was a really big failure, real quick. I just hope the Rumble winner, whomever it is, isn't curtain jerking at Mania. I feel like doing that several times really killed the mystique of the rumble.
