Eh, it's pretty intense during the RTD years too when Russell was writing too. I don't mind it too much if only because there's a point at which the only time traveling meddler, after like 1000 years, does become kind of mythic, even if he's just a goofball who stole his time machine and barely knows how to work his eyebrows, let alone the machine.

RTD started the whole "the Doctor is literally Jesus" thing. IMO that intergalactic mythic poo poo is the worst part of the revival. I like it better when the mythic role gets assigned to a character from the episode in a tiny cute way, like at the end of the recent Picts/Romans story.

It’s become increasingly common for Amazon and iTunes to put up season pass pre-orders for shows that haven’t actually premiered yet. They know it’ll air eventually, so why not offer a subscription and scoop up that cash now?

They do the same thing with digital movie pre-orders for movies that haven’t announced a home release date yet.

It was the fire in his eyes, that's what I remember. I could almost feel the ice in his veins, the loathing deep within his very being. "I'm known as the Oncoming Storm," he said. "I've seen a million planets die. I've seen civilizations rise, animals make their first steps toward sentience on aliens worlds, birds wheeling in purple skies. And I will remember what you did on this day. You will suffer for your crimes if I have to chase you to the end of the galaxy."

"I beg your pardon?"

Presuming you're asking about Sara Kingdom, she featured as a brief companion for a single story (though an extremely long story) called The Daleks' Masterplan, most of which no longer exists. It was also notable for the first appearance of Nicholas Courtney (The Brigadier) though he was playing a different character.

Her entrance and exit from the show are pretty loving insane and well worth experiencing via reconstructions without being spoiled on them.

So

Okay I'm all kinds of confused here. I know who Sara Kingdom is, I doubt there's any Doctor Who fan who likes the classic era that doesn't.

So, is this Jane Slavin going to be playing Sara Kingdom for Big Finish as the Fourth Doctor's new companion?

Or is there some other Sara Kingdom news that I don't know about, and the remarkable thing about this is that Jane Slavin is some big name actress that I don't recognize

Sara Kingdom is just being used as the most extreme example of Big Finish managing to squeeze extra stories out of characters that really shouldn't be able to do so, based on the show.

A better example for "Tom getting a new companion" really would be someone like Oliver Harper, or even just Evelyne or Hex

Oh I was just comparing the fact that's single story companion got multiple other stories released from Big Finish tonthe fact that they're slipping a brand new companion into the 4th doctor's run. The new companion is isn't Sara.
