I really doubt this impractical and dumb sleek techno-futuristic design trend is on engineers though. Not the tech grunts anyway. They aren't generally the type to have meltdowns if they have to look at a single visible USB port or a mechanical control.

neoliberalism of course demands that a company offload more work onto the consumers, including testing, soliciting user feedback, design iterations, QA, etc, that used to be done by the company's designers.

It's vaguely fine to not give a gently caress and just patch it later when you are making some office software or whatever. It's just that the people on Tesla forums are bringing that same cavalier "just file a bug report, they might fix it in 1.03" attitude to their car trying to randomly kill them. This is why you don't let software engineers get into real industries without heavy supervision.

The fanboys reacting to his nonsense is hilarious

"Hmm, this is really atypical behavior from a genius like him, something strange is going on, what did he mean by this? Ah, but I'm sure his masterplan will become clear in a week or two."

Except it doesn't, he'll just say something else that's a drunken shitpost at best and they'll repeat this audition for a bit part in a bad comedy movie all over again

EDIT: Like this is why the memelord crap about Musk being real life Tony Stark or whoever is so drat terrifying to me. No, no one literally believes it, but on a subconscious level that poo poo clearly does work. There are so many people completely incapable of perceiving a reality where he isn't some amazing science hero dude and you just keep seeing these comments amounting to "I genuinely cannot reconcile this statement coming from the mouth of a genius". It's so close to self-awareness except then they just keep requesting more reputable citations ad nauseam, you know, just to make sure it's not haters spreading lies again.
