My favourite words begin with f: Fiasco Festoon Flummox I love whiskey too. It comes from the Irish for water, uisce. Same as vodka, little water in Russian. I love that our ancestors equated hard liquor with sustenance.

I found a thesaurus on steroids in my attic that explains a word and all its synonyms in great detail and context. Funk and Wagnalls standard handbook of synonyms antonyms and prepositions. Not my photo but mine has a redder cover  It kicks rear end.

Cool book! Candid is an interesting word. It comes from the Latin meaning shining white. If you were running for office, you wore the toga candida to stand out from the crowd. Hence, candidate.

re: Candid - there's "ingenuous" there which is I've never run into. Does that mean 'disingenuous' is a prefix+word? I've never thought of it that way, 'cause I've never really known ingenuous I suppose. Cool stuff! Feel free to post ones you find interesting.
