not only will everything look like a visual trainwreck when you have multiple programs up, but before you know it all of the usable, reasonable and functional designs will be taken and all new apps will have to look like ridiculous winamp skins to even get approval for distribution on the yosappstore.

There's the e-mail politeness standard where you might have a fancy version of your message well-formatted with HTML and tables and images, but to be a good citizen you have to attach a text-only version that also works well with all mail clients.

YOSOS should enforce the same standard but with GUI + CLI accessible software.
