Jose Aldo is saying he wants to fight until he's 40, maybe longer, says that he used to just eat whatever and only cut weight before the fight and he now believes that's what made him feel bad enough that he was talking about retiring soon, apparently they've got him eating healthy to make 135 and he says he feels so much better that it's completely changed his mind about his fighting future.

Brut
Aug 21, 2007

Eh he's only 33, and kept up relatively well for 3 rounds against the guy who's fighting for the title next weekend, I mostly found it interesting that he seemed to be saying he literally didn't know eating healthy makes you feel better, rather than worse. It's also a very stark turnaround from previously being very vocal about a specific retirement plan.

If Marlon crushes him next weekend I'll re-evaluate I guess.

Did they actually say the second part? The only person I remember hearing say they're relaunching fightpass is Dana White and I don't think he's ever said "HTML5" in his life.

As for the site itself, I don't know why the dude you're quoting expects the video quality options to change, this was a front end update, the videos are the videos.

There ARE links to full event video pages, but they currently just redirect back to the main page, I'm not sure if they're gonna fix it by making the links work or fix it by removing the links.

So this is weird, if I try to click a full event page, for example UFC Sao Paulo: Blachowicz vs Souza from the US, it just dumps me to the front page, if I try to click it from somewhere else, it asks me that to watch that video I need to upgrade from paying them $9.99 a month to $10.99 a month. I'm assuming it will do the same if I try to watch this Saturday's card live.

I could give them their 11 bucks now out of curiosity, but I think I'll go back to playing RDR2 and figure this out when it's closer to my renew date.

So far the only person to use the hoop is Thug Nasty who weighed in at 145.2 so basically just took his pants off cuz he felt like it.

Matt Sayles 148.5 (Thug Nasty's opponent)
Cynthia Calvillo 120.5

Both fights have been sanctioned and accepted, Thug Nasty gets 20% and Marina Rodriguez gets 30%.

Reem didn't even take his shoes off to weigh in which was pretty funny, they don't usually let you do that.

It seems important to distinguish between former champs and gatekeepers.

Even if he'd never been the champ, he's been in a shitload of amazing fights, including one that is up there with the very best fights in the sport's young history, which is why he should be paid better.

Which specific fight do you mean?

I get that you think Frankie deserves our respect, and he does, but currently he's definitely a gatekeeper. That being said the gate he's keeping is 145lb title contention, which is some of the best in our sport, compared to for example OSP who is/was a gatekeeper for 205 top 10.

I think she has a chance. She's rightfully the underdog as she sucks on the ground and has nowhere near the MMA resume as Nunes, but she's not a lamb-to-the-slaughter type challenger like Pennington (or Eye vs Shevchenko) where they were outgunned both physically and in every aspect of MMA. Nunes is an infinitely better grappler, but with GDR coming into MMA a far more credentialed striker than the rest of her division, I assume she's spent the last many years improving her defensive grappling. If she can stuff a takedown or two and survive maybe a round in a bad position, or Nunes wants to try to beat her standing this time, I think she provides the biggest threat to Nunes at 135.

GDR spent her last many years working a desk job from which she has to ask for permission to take a couple weeks off for each training camp every time she has a UFC fight (which is about once a year at most).

Nope. It's submission only and when a Team faces another Team it goes like this.

Team A sends Member 1 to face off against Team B's Member 1. If Team A win the match, then Team B send out Member 2 while Team A's Member 1 remains on the mat. This continues until one team has lost all 5 of it's members. A draw (time limit) simply results in both competitors on the mat being eliminated.

Oh I was joking but that format sounds cool, I assumed they were just split up by weight especially with Rumble being there. Are there time limits? If time runs out it's a draw or decision?
