Hey that also happened to me at my first office job! Then the guy proceeded to mock me as he showed me how to do it. After that it was apparently expected I make the coffee daily for 'the guys' every morning before they got in, which I only learned when they started jabbing me with passive-aggressive comments about not being on top of the 'coffee duty'. Ugh. Anyway, I freelance so I've worked in lots of offices, and coffee culture is one of those things that people thing assume is just unspoken and understood as the same everywhere but is actually different from office-to-office, causing lots of issues because people won't communicate normally about it since it's 'common sense' and 'you should know!' They're not being lazy because you already tipped them, you're just an unreasonable rear end in a top hat on the one hand - I used to drive for Doordash and they make it pretty clear if you don't go up to the door you're not completing the delivery. You're not supposed to be making people go outside unless you absolutely can't get in. on the other hand, parking and going to the door in what was mostly apartment buildings or complexes took a crazy amount of time for a job where I just barely made minimum wage and where 95% of the time people don't tip bc they already feel like they're paying a bunch for the delivery fee, and I was a sucker for being as devoted and kind as I was. I should have made more people loving walk for it like all these other drivers have figured out - just get the food out of your hands ASAP so you can take another run and maximize profits. It's not worth it to go 'above and beyond' as a delivery person. EDIT: also getting a parking ticket vaporizes your profits for the day so it's not worth the risk. It's one of those things that takes time and it's ok to wait until you are emotionally ready. Rushing it will lead to resentment and break the relationship. Also I understand she was only 13, but he's right to be reticent when not only did she not think it was a problem he was being abused, but helped catalyze it. And she's still speaking to his abusers which means she can feed them info. She's not out of the woods yet with all of this, she has more self-examination to do and he's right to not trust her yet.

In part because they have to be, but often I find it's people who get frustrated that patients don't follow the Systems They Live By and they get pissed off, so they try to be punitive about it. Which is hilarious bc their function is literally to be the human face that makes those systems accessible to those outside of them. I'm not saying the system is inherently broken and that this is destined to happen at nearly every medical practice bc of the pace of having to see patients in the current factory-style medical system, I'm just thinking it SUPER LOUDLY.
