TLDR: EVE Echoes is the best mobile game I've played by a mile, but [GROO] Greater Goon is as of Sunday 8/30/2020 now run by toxic, RL-doxxing, hostile people that are lying and gaslighting in their attempt to astroturf how they have come to power and are now engaged in exclusionary, anti-inclusive Goonfucking gameplay.

Don't join it unless you're intent on living out combatively hostile SpaceGoon socialism based on real-world ideology.

Congrats everyone, it lasted less than a week this time!

I can't avoid filling a game with awful memes, even if I want to. It's in my bones...!
I still can't get over how well Echoes delivered on everything by day 13. Even the drama is incredible.

But yes, despite the fact that some things are going to feel weird as hell, this is an incredible EVE experience, especially on mobile devices - it still doesn't have every bell and whistle, and maybe that's for the best for now. It plays really well, it's pretty as get out if you have a device capable of cranking settings, we're already hilariously welping ourselves into Delve, and boy howdy, the drama's off to a great start. Did I mention we apparently have a group of Chinese players howling for our blood after we, in our previous incarnation, set their hundred-million-isk cargo vessel on fire?

I also hurfed a little blurf about the game's current state in the old thread, and I'll CP here with an edit or two:

quote:

Man, the choice of launch features is kind of wild to me. On the one hand, they have a lot of newer ships, like cov-ops equivalents and even the large gun BCs (which are Crucible-era), in the game, but we don't even have sov right now (so that's a pre-Exodus experience in nullsec, which is wild) but we do have deadspace equivalents, we have no capitals at all (and the BSes are as expensive as caps are in Online), there's no faction war (despite the game explicitly being set, like, in the equivalent timeframe of Online right now and references still being in ship descriptions), there's no Triglavians, no wormholes, but there is salvaging (sort of) and rigs, there's now multiple incremental ship variations, virtually all the new minor faction ships are in, skill queueing is in, training stat skills are gone (replaced by skill chips that have to be spawned in with real money, but you can sell them on the market for ISK), a form of planet and moon harvesting is in (and that's, like, Tyrannis-era) and while inaccessible, the drone regions are already on the map. Oh, and small citadels are in. And it has clone states (with a MUCH BETTER "sub" option of only :5bux: to get Omega skill and ship access, which I would use in Online if they offered it) which are an Ascension feature alongside Command Bursts.

So it's pre-Exodus Tyrannis Crucible EVE with Ascension and Citadel features.

It's kind of wild and I'm gonna be honest, the honeymoon period feeling hasn't worn out yet. I do also wish it was easier to configure/reconfigure your pilot avatar, but man, so far this has been a bit of a hoot. I'll be interested to see where this goes.

And just saying, CCP: that "basic Omega" option would be a real good idea for the core game.

I want to hurf more blurf about the differences and how they're both :raise: and neat, but gaaaah work.

Groon leadership is way more competent and infinitely more transparent about plans than the other corp. Glad I made the choice to jump ship from that clusterfuck Valador put together.

It takes time for things to even out the cracks, unfortunately the alliance grew far too quick and not enough information was out there and a severe lack of transparency and overall a larger more centralised production core rather than individualism which in a game with seeded ships and modules dropping from rats is not really required other than structure construction.

There wasn't a need for discounted ships other than contract fees instead of market fees, and there certainly was not a need to go skimming isk for whatever reason. Anyway, this is the chill group and hopefully it stays that way and eventually might become super cereal chilled which is ideal.
