I wouldn’t say the credits come out of nowhere as they come after you finish the hunt against the monster held up as the Big Bad the entire story. Then it just dumps you back in the village and says “Oh there are way worse monsters than that guy lol”.

Stumbled across JP indie Vtuber Mitama Sakumaru, and I'm quite pumped up right now. He's a virtual performer whose specialty appears to be developing his own VR spins on performing arts like juggling. Just check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2SEwrqQQW2U It's the kind of thing that gets me really hyped, and I'm basically just watching it over and over again right now. It's fun being an anime and watching people be anime, but virtual entertainment as a medium has an absolute ton of potential, and I love seeing people go out of their way to innovate and try to creatively explore its unique properties as a medium. Doubly so for indie Vtubers, who do it without any kind of dedicated support. Not only does he do performances, but he does tutorials and talks about virtual entertainment as well, and he's publicly released at least some of the apps he wrote for his virtual activities (such as his VR jump rope act) so that others can use them too. His content is in Japanese first, but he's been working on adding going back and adding English subs to his vids.

I agree with you re: it being awesome to see people using VR for more creative entertainment. I'm hoping that as FBT stuff starts getting cheaper between the Vive 3 and the Tundra (when/if it comes out), we'll see more unique stuff pop up. I was an early-adopter on the Vive 1.0 (lol, womp womp) and it more or less sits idle now since I need an area the size of a small stadium to do anything with it.

At the very least they're used as a red herring for the Elder dragon of the game so a lot of the early story beats framing them as a the big environmental threat for the village quests. See Lagi from 3 and the fated 4 from generations. Magamalo just kinda shows up and gets hunted on the next story beat. It's got about the same level of plot relevence as Anjanath from world.
