I don't have the game so can't check but Nvidia users try pressing Alt+F3 in-game to open the Freestyle menu. If it does come up, there's a Sharpen filter that's very good and is what makes DLSS look "better" than native res in the first place so enable that. Default settings might be a little strong but that's up to taste.

Hundreds of posts late, but thank you for this. DLSS was kinda driving me crazy with the blurriness, but the performance boost and beauty of rtx was too much to pass by.

I really appreciate how this game rewards you for stopping and listening to conversations out in the world sometimes. crying cyber-monk - did not expect the dude to actually give me a quest to go rescue his brother, I figured it'd just be a little world building dialogue for 'oh no maelstrom bad.' and i liked that you got a bonus for going non-lethal as well like he asked

The AI is really bad, and the combat is weird and stilted, no flow to it. So instead I opt to find the stupidest ways possible to cheese every fight. Doing stealth kids is great because no one patrols so you're not likely to have the body found. Escort missions are great because they can't die and they warp to you, so once I had to get this guy out of this motel and I just got on the roof and jumped onto the street on the side the enemies can't get to and walked away.

Yup, the AI just breaks so easily and gets into stuck patterns at the drop of a hat if you do any modicum of stealth or go out of the way in the environment, it's hilarious. Had an entire tiger claw dojo circling around their sparring mat while I overload quick-hacked them to death from the roof and my inventory worth of knives thrown down for good measure.

Game runs decently for me, but I think I have encountered a bug with that early quest where you meet Viktor. I assumed that since you owe him a debt, "Talk to Viktor" implied "...when you've got the cash to pay him back", but looking around it seems like it's a bug, and the only way to complete that quest is to go back to a pre-Viktor save and hope it doesn't happen again. I mean Christ, it's like the third quest in the game.

not sure exactly what the bug is, but you do get a quest specifically to pay him back

yeesh, cdpr definitely captured some dark and depressing tones in their sidequests:

-recovering the stolen medication i had a high enough body stat to talk down the soldier from going psycho and open up about his service, then as soon as I leave the room I hear a shot, walk back in, and he ate his gun. Johnny appears and is just like "yep :geno:"

-the preachers son actually got me kinda yucked out when i stopped to listen to the dialogue of the snuff film father/son going into detail about what it was like to kill kids. they both got promptly katana'd as soon as the disk was recovered

I've felt this way too. I haven't found any cool ways to sneak around anywhere

While I haven't found any vents, almost every "bandit camp" has at least a less guarded if not totally empty entrance like a hole in a fence, hack / body door, blast window, or roof window that lets you get by the front entrance. From there they usually have some kind of electronic nearby you can hack to distract and takedown the guard watching over the next open portion. It's nothing crazy, but still gives some variety to approaches. I'd say by far the worst offender is how quick enemies alarm when attacked and then you've got the entire camp rushing your spot.

Gorilla arms become pretty stupid quickly too. In street brawler alone, you just start stacking those +combo damage, stun chance, +damage to stun, +damage on kill and the damage really adds up. Toss in some of the other melee/crit passives and cyberpyschos go down in one or two combos.

There's definitely some real hosed up stuff in the desert that doesn't have any markers and you gotta read all the little chips just to figure what was going on. At the random building covered in turrets and mines found the dude dead inside with a pair of handcuffs next to him and an email saying his cyber-heart was failing. Then then you unlock the basement and find the girl he was smuggling to NC, but kidnapped instead and locked up for five years until she went crazy and later starved to death after he died along with another dude he kidnapped so she'd have a friend. :gonk:

the cyber-meth trailer with deal gone wrong is just wholesome in comparison to most.

I don't think it liked me double jumping over a back wall into the area and glitched some of the johnny dialogue i was supposed to get when walking in the correct way, then another trigger failed to spawn the cyberpyscho. Took 3 tries reloading before taking the quest and walking real slow through the steps in the "correct" way got it to work, bleh.

You can make your face and eyes look pretty gnarly in character customization, and then get your arms to split into pieces with different weapons later on, but there's no turning your entire body into a robot visually. (and you rarely see your character anyway with the vast majority of the game being in first person. hope you like the nail color you picked!)

Even stealing the militech chip doesn't get you extra credits.

You can get the extra militech chip creds by don't decode it or remove the malware before the meeting, when you hand it over he pulls a gun and I got a body option to choke him out, then shot my way out of the factory. Afterwards I decoded the chip and got 10k just fine.

Uh, climate change is kind of mentioned all over? The entire midwest is a dustbowl which is why the nomads exist in the first place, you've got antarctica being settled because of how much ice has melted, hydroponic farms cover an entire section of the map and tons of the food you eat are ground up crickets and worms because "real" stuff just can't be produced. The rain that keeps falling? Mostly acidic and poisonous from pollution. I mean, the game doesn't beat you over the head with "climate change bad" but if you just take a look at the news stations blaring or a few of shards america was truly hosed and much of the rest of the world too.

Are you running DLSS (quality)? It's a pretty massive boost to frames and necessary for decent performance imo. Turn off film grain, chromatic abberation, and motion blur, cascade shadows to medium, then Alt+f3 to the nvidia overlay and add a sharpen filter (35-45% was good for my eyes).

I don't know much about the Cyberpunk setting outside of what I'm seeing in the game but my general feeling is that the real world will be a worse place than Night City in 57 years.

I mean, cyberpunk in general is often a critique of society and the game is blaringly obvious about it's direct allegories. Heck, the sourcebook is very explicit about it, but the game teases in general that while the world is pretty bad, America is well and uniquely hosed just because of how society degraded under the guise of capitalist "freedoms." Something like trauma team (in game shards too) is just a flashing neon sign saying "look at all these people dying from cheap preventable reasons because they couldn't get healthcare, or coverage was revoked. This doesn't happen in other advanced nations!"

Hell, the more cyberpsycho missions you do, the ongoing theme is technology and number of implants doesn't drive people crazy, the crushing inhuman situations that surround them cause them to finally go crazy and lash out

Also like, looking into the background lore a bit more, Johnny's assault on Arisaka was actually him leading a Militech corporate assault team to try and end their war with Arisaka, which he held a grudge against more for them kidnapping his girlfriend more than anything.

And the game talks about economic disparity between the rich corpo folks and the poor in might city barely scraping by like...all the time?

lmao, according to one of the random shards you find, sea freight across the world is halted because arasaka released self replicating AI controlled mines to fight militech. It then decided all ships were potentially hostile targets, and when they tried to shut it down, the AI decided the command was a virus and kept doing it's thing. Now all bulk freight is moved by tens of thousands of miles of underground railway lines :allears:
