Apparently the Twins are going to do a six man rotation to start the season which will probably correct itself before the end of the month considering who's in it.

my favorite thing to come of this btw is a pitcher who struck out the side on 8 pitches with one of them being a ball because the batters were taking too long to ready up

Serious question - has there been discussion on implementing a batter clock as well? Some dudes take forever up there.

*edit I just read it again. I thought it was an indictment on pitchers only but it appears to be for each pitch, and the pitcher and batter better be ready. So, question answered.

yeah in the clip I saw (and can't find to post here which is annoying me) they mentioned something like the batter needing to be ready by the time the clock hits 9 or something or it's just an auto strike. One batter got an early strike called on him and one batter caught strike 3 to end the inning that way, which amped the hilarity factor up by at least 3 points

I've said it before but they should just make it so the batter isn't allowed to step out of the box during an AB unless it's to run on a play or potential play or avoid an errant pitch. Everybody rags on pitchers for slowing things down but once you've seen Kris Bryant take a ball nowhere near the plate that he didn't even flinch at still decide he's gotta step out to adjust his helmet, glasses, gloves, and junk for the next 20 seconds you know batters are just as culpable.

this is already a rule, you have to keep one foot in the box after any pitch that doesn't result in a ball in play, or something like that

more falafel please posted:

Didn't this used to be way worse though? I know the rule isn't super well enforced, but I feel like hitters used to just walk halfway to the ondeck circle after every pitch, get a hot dog, take a sip of water, extra wad of chew, etc.

It did, the stay in the box rule is relatively new though I don't know exactly when it was added and also umps are in general terrible at enforcing it.

Per fangraphs, Ty France is currently tied with Mike Trout for the highest wRC+ in baseball at 235.

I was wondering why Buxton wasn't showing on the leaderboards and it's because he's 8 PA short of qualifying for them, which is extra funny when their leaderboards disqualify him from counting stats like WAR (he is tied for second)

His WRC is 296 in 41 PA, I dunno how it's calculated but if you gave him an 0-10 to catch up to Trout's 51 I bet he'd still be higher :v:

Didn't even dawn on me that Buxton was missing. Could be the plate appearances, but maybe they're waiting for that ball to land or something?

For a rate stat it makes sense but I think it's funny that they're disqualifying him from the leaderboards on a counting stat.

They could also not be cowards and just give him an 0-X to "qualify" him for the leaderboards like b-r does

Which to be fair if you can beat the poo poo out of all your terrible division opponents then that's a good way to win your division.
