Yeah they really should have made L2 into a quick item radial menu. It's be a nice solution that lets you actually bother using all of the weird items you get, as well as quick weapon changing for Mystic Knights, Assassins, Magick Archers, everybody else even! That's the only thing I really wish the game had - weapon changing.

Shalinor posted:At a low level, GnomeChomsky got hired out pretty often, but lately he doesn't seem to get hired at all. Kinda wondering if low level hires are just more likely? As for teaching your pawn to throw enemies, it seems to be pretty tough to do. I spent most of the weekend on two different character and pawn combos, with my main character spending the majority of most fights with humanoid or smaller enemies, and throwing exploding barrels whenever possible. I noticed that my pawn didn't pick up on grappling and carrying enemies for a very long time, but eventually I started noticing her picking up wolves and carrying them around (which I view as progress toward the goal of tossing them around,) where she'd previously spent all her time just grappling and holding them in one spot until they were killed. I have faith that she's progressing in the right direction, though! Similarly, throwing exploding barrels seems pretty tricky to train for me, mainly because there are rarely red barrels close enough to a fight to use them where I can be fairly sure my pawn will observe it. I have nmoticed that in some places, when i grab a red barrel my pawn will also copy my lead and walk around carrying a barrel. Progress, to be sure however, I've yet to spy her throwing a barrel at an enemy.. Again, I suspect a lot of that is just getting barrels and enemies in the right proximity to my pawn. Anybody else have any experiences, suspicions, opinions, or observatinos on pawn training? I've recently been wondering if having two "opposing" personality traits is a good idea, and changed my Challenger/Scather pawn, into a Challenger/Nexus pawn, in hopes that she won't be confused as to which enemy target would be priority.. I started wondering this when I saw my Guardian/Scather pawn really never seemed to do anything, and wondered if the two traits were giving her conflicting priorities.. Dan Didio posted:Haha, that Ogre in the Everfall or whateve it's called. Goddamn that fight is funny. Attention Deficit posted:On that note, if I want to Release a Pawn from service whilst in the mists, how do I do that *without* leaving a rating? A couple of times I've signed a Pawn on then decided to switch it out (before using it) for a different one. I have a challenger/scather pawn as well and haven't seen many difficulties. But she's a sorc so all I really care about is her attacking stuff (well, and staying away long enough to get a spell off). And yeah, I've been giving pawns various restoratives for a long time now since they use those when needed, I just didn't know about flasks/dragonspit/etc until I noticed them using it once. As for training pawns, I haven't really tried, but I've definitely seen my pawn (and a few others) grab a barrel and throw it at enemies. I think one even did it at an ogre, which is the best time to do it. That said it wasn't with any input from me and something they just decided to do. Definitely never seen them throw anyone off cliffs but I don't do that too often myself either.

Hey Dan Didio, you know that pawns release the items to your storage when you release them back to the mists, right? My pawn is just being super helpful (she is a pack mule for my small, wiry ranger, which is probably why she takes everything).

So, now that the holiday's over, I've decided that this can't be a weekday game. It's far too easy to start playing with an intent to just finish one quest or kill one griffin and, WHOOPS, it's two in the morning. And to add to the pawn inclination talk, I've found that class plays a big part in whether or not a pawn's smart. I had Ran as a Scather/Guardian warrior, and she spent half the battle running around trying to figure out who to target. When I switched to Scather/Pioneer, she was a little more aggressive, though it seemed like she spent a lot of time running around trying to get in position for her charge moves. Then, when I switched her back over to fighter, she was able to efficiently solo a goblin pack/weak group of bandits. I haven't experimented much beyond that, but it seems each class has its own odd quirks that makes finding the right inclinations a little trickier.

How do you defeat Evil Eyes as a mage? It casts some much poo poo upon my party that they seem to do absolutely nothing. The tentacles that come up out of the ground just causes them to run around in circles, the torpor causes them to run around in circles, the hired pawn healer can't decide who to heal before it gets silenced and magic does no damage. To be honest, as fun as mages can be, every single loving magic immune thing has been a giant creature while every physical immune thing has been the weakling ghost creatures that gets melted by magic weaponry. They seriously didn't think things through when they designed monsters when having a magic class.

Man, gently caress The Cockatrice in Soulflayer Canyon. That was the dumbest fight I have ever had the displeasure of participating. Second I fall down into Leaper's Ledge. BAM, everyone is Petrified, and pawns are retarded and don't know how to use the Petrification medications. It's baffling how one hit and you're done with them. Also considering the sun wasn't directly above my head it was pitch black for the entire thing.

Funkmaster General posted:When your pawn comes back from helping another, however, you're told you'll receive (among other things) the exp it gained while away. "Quest Experience" refers to your pawn knowing the location of the objective ("I know the way, follow me, Arisen!") or the tips they will offer up if you talk to them at certain points when you have a quest set as Priority - you can sometimes very clearly see how some pawns in your party know about the quest and how some don't, just by the red "Chat Bubble" above the heads of some but not others in your party.
