Honestly, I didn't do normal multiplayer for Starcraft I at all, I just did Use Map Settings stuff because that was way more fun. Don't have Starcraft II though.

I wish they'd do a gimmick MP event or something where they included all the campaign units (or almost all of them) just to see what kind of goofy poo poo a really good Starcraft player could create. I remember reaver dropping being a thing in SC1, but I want to see what insanity a Herc drop could produce, for example.

Well, at a certain point characters for with a helmet/mask that kind of de facto becomes their face as far as the viewer is concerned.

He clearly meant that helmeted characters are unimportant compared to the non-helmeted characters. But all Quarians have to wear their suits, so there is no distinction possible. And of course, Tali is the only one who eventually ditches the helmet for a short moment.

Also, conservation of detail. Easy to just use generic art and portraits for irrelevant characters and units, saving actual face and model work for characters that matter.

Breakout and Help Tosh because then you get Spectres. Spectres get goddamn incredible research upgrades, to the point where a single Spectre can be the only unit that ever leaves your base on some of the maps in the campaign on easier difficulties.

New Gettysburg was the primary defensive platform/last line of defense above Tarsonis back when it was the capitol of the Confederacy. It was used for all of the Tarsonis missions back in SC1. And I think the point about the Zerg eating Tarsonis was that it was Arcturus fault rather than just another Zerg attack. Also Cutthroat.

Voting for Hercules and Cutthroat, mostly for the comedy of the mission's setup. It's worth noting just how much of Starcraft: Ghost got swept away during that standoff with Nova and Tosh. The two used to be romantically involved as well as partners from the same Ghost unit, but then had a fallout over the top-secret project they were connected to, leading to Nova becoming loyal to Hauler and later Mengsk while Tosh becomes a Spectre and goes rogue. This makes their argument even more intriguing. Unless you looked it up, you'd have no idea about the previous spoilers because of how much Blizzard wants to make you forget Starcraft: Ghost even was a thing.

Edminster posted:*loud, sustained farting noise* You are already a better co-commentator than I. I think we're probably going to do all of the missions (including where there are decision points), but those alternative choices will be bonus videos. There is a fantastic cutscene if you help Nova. Honestly, though, I have no idea how good Spectres are, as I have only beaten this game once, and I was pretty bad when I did that.

Synastren posted:You are already a better co-commentator than I. So the thing with Spectres is that instead of Snipe they get an aoe damage and stun spell, and their research upgrades give them no energy cost cloak like a Dark Templar and a giant fuckoff 200 point single target spell which again on lower difficulties lets you just sort of build enough base defenses to fend off any stray attacks then gently caress around solid snaking certain maps with a Spectre in a way that you never could with a Ghost.

Hercules and Help Nova. Tosh seems too shady and I don't like the idea of freeing all his psycho-killer buddies just because he says "no it's cool I swear they're on our side okay?" Also seeing Nova just makes me sad that Starcraft Ghost never became a thing and never will become a thing. The Starcraft universe is just such a fun setting that I'd love to play first person in.

Upgrade - Maelstrom Rounds Research - Hercules Mission - Breakout - Help Nova I have no idea who is better, but people are saying that Nova missions are more fun and have better cutscenes so I choose her. Does unit upgrades also affect mercenaries? Will maelstrom rounds give us better siege brakers?

Disco Infiva posted:Does unit upgrades also affect mercenaries? Will maelstrom rounds give us better siege brakers? Yes, all unit upgrades carry over to the mercenaries. For example, our War Pigs, the marine mercenary has an additional 10 hp and stim from the upgrades we bought. That means upgraded siege breakers will be even more absurdly powerful than normal.

I had a nice post about the comments on the adjunct design... but gently caress it. Not the time and place. I'll just sum it up like so - Uncanny valley. We'd all feel there was something really out of place if we heard a feminine voice, saw a feminine face, and saw a masculine/neutral body. Right. That done. How far into the campaign are we? I have no way of telling, but with all the different plot strings everywhere it seems like the campaign could actually be really, really long. And do the multiple choice missions like Tosh/Nova and Haven really have a significant impact on things beside particular mission rewards?
