poo poo, I guess those Ovechkin comparisons weren't unwarranted after all.
Provided the Jets don't trade Trouba for scraps I'd say things are looking about as good for that franchise as they have since Hossa was wearing a Thrashers jersey.

Hall to be examined by doctors this afternoon, team not yet sure of seriousness of lower-body injury

The official word on Taylor Hall’s absence from tonight’s lineup against the Stars at American Airlines Center is “cautionary.” But Devils coach John Hynes was also quick to say that their top-line left wing will be seeing a doctor this afternoon and the team will know more about Hall’s situation later this afternoon.

The Devils announced right before their morning skate that Hall would miss tonight’s game with a lower-body injury.

“He came to the rink this morning and something was bothering him a little bit so the trainers took a look at him,” Hynes said. “We’ll hold him out for cautionary (reasons). We’ll have the doctors look at him and probably have some more information on it later today.”

Hall participated fully in Monday’s practice in Newark before the team departed for Dallas. Hynes said he did not discuss with Hall whether the injury happened on a specific play, either in practice or prior to that.

Asked if Hall’s injury was overly serious, Hynes responded, “We don’t know.”

Not to crap on the Jackets, but the Capitals are a much more talented team and should have been able to take the play to them. Instead they iced incomprehensible lines and then Trotz, just now in the media, complained that "certain players" don't want to score enough (referring to Ovechkin, who only got like 14 minutes of ice time tonight). He needs to stop being cute with the lines and just go with what works.

Kuznetsov and Ovechkin showed insanely good chemistry last season and earlier this year but for whatever reason the coaches won't stick with that combination. It's frustrating and I kind of hope the Penguins kick the poo poo out of them if I see Jay Beagle on the top line again.

I was unfortunate enough to go tonights game (VAN-NYR). It was a work thing and I said yes ages ago, but should have known better!.

- NYR weren't playing very well, but man, when they got a chance, they scored. Sure, Markstrom stopped caring after 5, but it was still impressive to watch.
- Is the Dorset/Grandlund/Erikson line supposed to be the 2nd line? Apart from a short spell in the 3rd period (where they did get a fluke goal), they were useless. They got loads of offensive zone face-offs and did very little.
- Sedins look completely toothless. NYR just mostly ignored them.
- Watching Tryamkins slow-motion hits in real life is hilarious. He'll pick up a guy 5-6 meters from the boards and slowly drive him towards the boards while the other guy is flailing haplessly trying to get out of the way. It was worth the price of entry alone (Ok, that's not true, but it was still my highlight of the night)
- What's the point of recalling Virtanen if you're just going to scratch him?.
