For some reason I actually clicked on that one and I fully expected it to how down-home country Real Americans are so much better than those URBAN or FOREIGN people but nah it's just some innocuous thing about how nobody's perfect and don't sweat the small stuff etc etc.

Anyway to contribute, there was a local LGBT pride parade a few weeks ago, there were more people than there ever was attending this year, everyone seems very happy and many straight families went to the event to support as well. Then I read the comments on the photos posted later. This must be one of the most passive aggressive "love the sinner hate the sin" things I have ever seen. CONSEQUENCES OF THE GAY AGENDA and 31 likes. Still less hate than previous years, but gently caress. EDIT: I love the new anonymizer too, this is great.

I had someone say a similar thing to me, but it was something like 1000 miles closer to/further from the sun and we would all die. A minute of googling showed that the Earth's distance from the sun varies by up to five million miles during the year as it travels on it's elliptical orbit.

A minute of googling showed that the Earth's distance from the sun varies by up to five million miles during the year as it travels on it's elliptical orbit. Not only is Earth's orbit elliptical, but the closest point in its orbit is during winter in the Northern Hemisphere. The distance doesn't matter that much, because there isn't much to 'cool down' solar radiation in space, so even when you're five million kilometers further away, you're still getting about the same amount of light.
