The first thing that came to mind when I read your post was St. Vincent, but I don't know if it's ever a straight-up mix of shoegaze underpinned by trip-hop; there are just elements poking about. I'm looking for recent [female] vocal trance songs. Just something new, something chillstep preferably. Things like Bullet Train by Steven Shwartz or Feel Me by Two Friends ft Priyanka Atreya. I like trap remixes of music like this, but darn youtube's search is so terrible and it's always recommending me music I've already heard. So I need a Music Player recommendation. I used to use Music Cube before they stopped development and I loved it. I switched to songbird which I was never really a big fan of and they recently shut down development. Is there a current popular open source player that everyone is using?

Immortal Tech is a total joke and the recommendation of him was clearly sarcastic. I normally don't give a poo poo about "conscious" hip-hop since my appreciation of the genre is limited to production and rhyme scheme, but CunninLynguists are pretty cool, and Blackalicious and Cannibal Ox are solid. Also, check out Jam Baxter; a RYM pal has said good things about him.

He's a joke because he's the go-to rapper for college dudes who read about socialism for the first time and then go and buy mass produced Che shirts. Dude's been living off the rep he got for "Peruvian Coke" and has become one of a handful of "I don't like rap but..." rappers. He's a decent punchline rapper who's "political" songs are 90% conspiracy theories and gibberish, but since he's often talking about places outside of the US there's some added exoticism and less indictment of domestic policies which might make for uncomfortable listening. Which is why someone like Cube isn't looked up to in those circles-Amerikkka's Most Wanted is way more incisive and flat out better than anything Tech has done, but if you're a suburban white dude songs about fighting the man seem better coming from the perspective of third world nations directed at the government, rather than dudes on the poor side of town directed at you. Basically, he's a joke because the same type of idiot who would unironically complain about "bling" in rap is exactly the type of clown who would think Tech is amazing. And for better or worse, artists often are judged by the fanbases they attract.

As a non-American i know as much people who like him as people who like stuff like Dead Prez, which is basically zero  I do agree that even 2pac's social inspired songs have deeper meaning than IT, at least quality-wise.

I can't get enough of it, and I know there is more music similar to this part out there, I'm just not sure where.
