On a related note, a guy on a hockey team I played on used to play whole games with no shoulder pads on at all. I can't imagine taking a literal shot to the heart with no padding.

For the first time since week two, the Stars have more regulation wins than losses and Anders Lindback was involved. This can't last.

Aphrodite posted:Pfft. Assistacek maybe. Secondary Jake. There's like 5 players on pace for 100 points right now. Seguin, Giroux, Voracek are all on that pace, and Crosby and Malkin are both just about at it. If that holds, this will be the first time since 2009-10 that multiple players hit 100 points. I would think at least one of those first three will carry their hot starts to 100 points, and Crosby and Malkin are both bound to be there by the end of the season, health permitting.

Yeah, except his inability to procreate didn't let his ruin end with his death, because the conflict between who he said his heir would be and who the rules of noble inheritance adopted by the Spanish Habsburgs said it would be (or more accurately they; Spain and the Habsburgs were both still kind of a big deal then, but it was bound to be broken up) led to almost literally a world war. This is probably of little comfort to Oilers fans, since their team is named after people who blow through rock bottom before 9 AM. dont be mean to me fucked around with this message at 14:28 on Dec 22, 2014 |

It's dirty, but it's probably legal. It was a shoulder hit, he doesn't actually hit his head there. (Except for the interference thing.)

Gionta's like 4 feet tall. That he didn't hit his head shows intent not to. (The NHL doesn't give a poo poo about intent, only what happens. This despite several rules using the word 'intent'.) Bartkowski hit him with the shoulder, didn't follow through with the arm, didn't target the head. It was definitely a questionable hit, and the interference 5+10 was definitely the right call, but given Bartkowski's history (none) it looked to me like he was trying to "send a message" or "get the boys pumped up" or whatever it is you want to call that intangible feeling. Also it was really cool to see Gionta pinwheel through the air like a rag doll.
