they could've got the data if they wanted to by inviting a sample group of drivers to have their net income measured in exchange for a bonus or something. god knows they were able to rope their drivers into other more retarded poo poo like delivering kittens or lovely icecream so it's really #2.

uber has all the data they need to accurately estimate net income for drivers. they require you to disclose your car's year, make, and model which combined with their knowledge of miles driven is enough to get fleet average fuel economy/cost and depreciation numbers. it just isn't in their interests at all to do the calculation.

also the bit about tori's penus

the same benefit they got from making the analysis in the first place. they made this analysis as propaganda (helps to convince politicians not to regulate them more/at all), and it would be a bigger feather in their cap if they could claim uber driver net income > taxi driver net income.

and i don't think i'm misattributing, i'm pretty sure they set out to deceive. look at this analysis

if you don't read the paragraph under the table and realize driver's earnings means pre-tax, pre-expenses earnings you could easily come away with the impression that uber drivers are making way more than taxi drivers

the explanatory paragraph even claims that net income is higher for uber drivers as long as expenses per hour are less than $6 for a driver, without bothering to actually estimate the amount of taxes uber drivers owe on their earnings. how is that at all honest?

eBay doesn't have much going for it besides what they've already got so it's time to clamp down and unleash the MBAs to squeeze as much efficiency out of it as possible

paypal still has, potentially, a lot of growth and the ceo of eBay hosed them out of a lot of opportunities in the past. they're better off on their own

in this case the thinking is that ebay isn't growing any more but paypal is so splitting them up will turn paypal into a stock market rocketship

and on average uberers only make $6 an hour over regular taxi drivers (when you compare uber driver gross earnings to taxi driver net income)

i'll give you 3 guesses why they didn't bother calculating net income for uberers

because uber doesn't care about drivers' net income. their business model relies on externalizing or refusing to pay as many expenses as possible. uber's position is that whatever expenses drivers may have to pay aren't uber's problem or concern, and uber has no desire to nail it down to hard numbers since that just makes it harder to pretend to be ignorant of those expenses

also the only reason they're releasing these numbers is for marketing and media buzz, so they have an obvious interest in making the numbers look as positive as possible

When I lived out in the burbs, the only place I could walk to and watch a hockey game was an Applebee's. there was a woman in her forties who worked there at the bar. her early thirties boyfriend would spend each and every shift she had sitting at the end of the bar, drinking. wouldn't talk to her or anyone else. it was creepy.

that's because dancing on stage is basically an advertisement for the private lap dances and/or time in the "VIP section" (where depending on the club and girl may range from "a little extra physical contact" to "illicit blowjobs")

In my experience, it appeared that the really high earning dancers were always either working the floor or constantly in the VIP room. They may do like one routine but the floor was for the dancers who needed to advertise more.

A ton of poo poo that strip clubs do with their not-employees is illegal as all hell but the women have to just take it because nobody is going to stand up for strippers and even if they took it to court there's the near certainty that a jurist would be biased against them.

Same with house cleaners, but they unfortunately often have an added racism and/or immigration status clusterfuck going on as well.
