I knew that didn't make sense, I shouldn't try to write things while people are annoying me at work on my break. Basically the TV show Mom is what Lorre wanted to change Roseanne into, with Dan leaving her and dealing with the fall out from that. While Lorre is well know as a huge jerk he seems to be better to work with then Roseanne especially after he got sober.

I don't know much about Lorre except some of the stuff I've read itt and read during Sheen's first meltdown but I'd guess it's safe to say that a guy who uses the last episode of the show that made him a fortune to take potshots at someone years after their beef and also turn his nose up at the pleebs who dared like his show enough to give him a few extra years of raking in the cash is a huge prick.

So the Emmy's just got some new rules and got even dumber and less relevant:quote:Definition of a "Comedy" and "Drama" Series: To clarify the difference between the "Comedy" and "Drama" series categories, series with episodes of 30 minutes or less are defined as a "Comedy"; those with episodes of more than 30 minutes are presumed to be a "Drama." All programs entering the competition this year will be grouped according to these new definitions.

Let's give it a little while and see which wolf it feeds the most, so to speak." The January TCA conference arrives. 2 Broke Girls gets its own panel. Critics are REALLY interested in seeing what the cast and crew thinks about where the show needs work and what they do best. And, really, what the deal was with all the problematic jokes. Michael Patrick King, in turn, didn't take it too well.

Better was the quote from the producer of Midsommer Murders about why there were very few minorities on the show (which takes place in the village of Midsommer), he replied something along the lines of Midsommer representing the ideal English village.

To be fair he said that while an ideal definition of "English village" might include minorities it doesn't, and the show is made for a certain audience who wouldn't want to see them. So, he was right, though very un-PC.

Its been years since I watched an episode of 2 Broke Girls but the jokes were usually pretty much "Here's a shockingly racist caricature or comment... laugh at it because you're shocked because we're too lazy to write an actual joke."

All I know is reading that press conference article brings me back to the time when I too thought there was a sweet, heartfelt, and clever comedy in 2 Broke Girls between two talented comics with great chemistry underneath all the terrible, terrible poo poo. And then the show's creative was kind enough to say "No, gently caress that poo poo, you should walk away right now" and I was very appreciative. I wish more shows were that honest and open about expectations.

I actually don't really enjoy Dennings at all in general. She's always way too aware of the cameras and "Ha, I made a joke" for me to enjoy. The only times I've ever enjoyed her was when she was going back and forth with Behrs. The only other time I've ever seen Behrs in anything was a bad Lady Antebellum video so I have no idea about her.

Shageletic posted:Looking and a lot of other HBO shows are 30 and less. There is an option for shows to appeal the category on a case by case basis. So an hour long show like Jane the Virgin can argue that it is primarily a comedy series. The only shows that would be affected are dramedies like Orange is the New Black. A lot of people accused OitNB of being submitted as a comedy because the producers thought it had a better chance of winning in the weaker comedy field. After all, dramas usually trump comedies at awards shows, that's the reason for splitting up dramas and comedies. So this way Orange is the New Black is back to competing against shows like House of Cards and Mad Men, instead of comedies like Mike and Molly and The Big Bang Theory. thrakkorzog fucked around with this message at 13:29 on Feb 21, 2015 |
