I'm kind-of over whether "egomaniacal madman" Donald Trump's campaign will slam Bobby by completely ignoring him, or else do something Trumpish.

Was he in the last debate? I don't remember him. Who is he, some guy? Sounds like a loser to me. I'm a pretty popular guy, I'm leading all the polls, of course some of the losers are gonna want to take a swipe at me. That's because they're losers. Like Jeb, Jeb's a great guy but he's got loser written all over him, maybe he can get together with this Bobby guy and talk about how much they hate the fact that Trump is a winner."

Evangelicals have no problems trashing Catholics/Mormons/Seventh-Day Adventists in the context of a theological discussion, but in the realm of politics the victim complex will always override theology. If his beliefs were brought up among a group of fellow churchgoers the discussion might get as far as "he has some wrong beliefs but his heart is in the right place." If you guys think you're going to drop his SDA beliefs in a Facebook post and people are going to respond by reconsidering their political opinions rather than getting defensive you're kidding yourselves.

This is the biggest thing to happen to Jindal's campaign so far -- which is sad. Also, I'm eagerly awaiting next week's debate. I feel like the guns will be coming out big time against Trump now that the also-rans like Jindal are starting to be more direct with their attacks ("he can't be our nominee"). Whether they make any sort of difference until some people drop out is yet to be seen.

I think the fact that they finally accepted Romney shows that while they may bitch, as long as you aren't an atheist or open Muslim, they will vote for you. If a Mormon can pass the test, a 7th Day Adventist will be ok.

Romney couldn't have been the nominee back in Kennedy's time, when being a drat Catholic was a big deal, but modern day evangelicals are a little less strict. As long as it's some branch of Christianity, you're probably fine.

I pretty much agree, but I do think it's something a dude like Trump could turn into a huge issue if he used the right words.

I know this is the Republican's pet issue, but it is seriously starting to piss me off how much time, money and resources they have wasted on this. If they put 1% of the effort into making it better (I mean actually better, not stripping it or ruining it), this country would be so much better off. loving Republicans.

So the plan right now is to draft off of Trump's media attention and hope that eventually enough people notice he's not a politician, you are, and they pick you. Seems like a dumb plan

The thing is, if any of the candidates actually get into it with Trump a la Christie/Paul in the last debate, I don't see them coming off looking particularly well. They're not going to be able to out-bluster him and they're going to look either weak or like bland, generic politicians if they try to reason with him.

About Carson's religion: Won't hurt him in a general but it may hurt him in the primaries. One of the reason why there were so many NOT ROMNEY'S is because of the evangelical rejection of Mormonism. I'm not saying it was a major reason... But it was a reason.
