it’s weird how anytime tesla/spacex announces or does anything half the articles are about “elon musk is going to thing” or “elon musk just did thing” as if he’s the only one that works at these companies. i can’t think of any other ceo that gets jerked off as hard as him. spacex could announce that they’re building a flying robot that will murder people and the verge would write an article about how elon musk is saving the environment

i think musk being seen as Science Jesus is more a symptom of society not really valuing actual science or ambitious projects anymore - musk is just an opportunist with a marketing team that's taking advantage of that giant gap

someone posted some screencaps of that rolling stone interview to imgur the other day -- the one where ol' musky talks about being a forever alone nice-guy, can't sleep in an empty bed, loves girls more than they love him, etc. the imgur "community" laps that poo poo up and in comments is like "this poor man is singlehandedly saving the world and he's a billionaire and STILL those bitches don't even want to hang out with him because he's a NERD" on the other hand, http://www.marieclaire.com/sex-love/a5380/millionaire-starter-wife/ quote:in the months following our wedding, a certain dynamic began to take hold. Elon's judgment overruled mine, and he was constantly remarking on the ways he found me lacking. "I am your wife," I told him repeatedly, "not your employee." quote:Elon was obsessed with his work: When he was home, his mind was elsewhere. I longed for deep and heartfelt conversations, for intimacy and empathy. And while I sacrificed a normal family life for his career, Elon started to say that I "read too much," shrugging off my book deadlines. quote:I could no longer hide my boredom when the men talked and the women smiled and listened. I wasn't interested in Botox or makeup or reducing the appearance of the scars from my C-sections. And no matter how many highlights I got, Elon pushed me to be blonder. "Go platinum," he kept saying, and I kept refusing. quote:Elon agreed to enter counseling, but he was running two companies and carrying a planet of stress. One month and three sessions later, he gave me an ultimatum: Either we fix this marriage today or I will divorce you tomorrow, by which I understood he meant, Our status quo works for me, so it should work for you. He filed for divorce the next morning. I felt numb, but strangely relieved.

'I see things differently': James Damore on his autism and the Google memo No one recognises the woman standing beside him. She is Damore’s girlfriend: a feminist and a data scientist who works in tech. The couple make a surprising pair, as I discovered when we sat down and talked about some of the issues they usually avoid: the gender pay gap, whether boys are more suited to board games than girls, and the 10-page memo that turned Damore, almost overnight, into a pariah in their industry. Damore’s girlfriend has agreed to meet only after being assured that, like her, I disagree with her boyfriend’s views. She does not want to be identified or directly quoted: she is keen to remain in the shadows. Damore, meanwhile, has appeared to bask in the attention; in the months since he left Google, he has become a commentator on political issues that extend well beyond the tech industry, becoming one of the most polarising figures in Silicon Valley. I ask if he finds interacting with people difficult. He replies: “It’s hard for me to say what’s ‘difficult’ because I don’t know what the average is.” But he finds small talk tiring and can see behavioural traits in himself that may be linked to the condition, such as “having fewer friends due to maybe social awkwardness”. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha e: He had also been doing a lot of personal research about politics. He knew he was a centrist with libertarian inclinations but, he tells me, he “wanted to understand the world and why people seem to have such different perspectives and opinions”. aaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha H.P.
