I hope some episode next season has a scene or a cold open or something where Thirteen happens to arrive at the Blackpool Mecca in the 1970s and pointedly turns to the camera and says, "Northern soul is rubbish."

Didn't some people when the costume was revealed find some photos of the Northern Soul era, and Jodie's costume would have literally fit right in?

Absolutely, the braces and boots were standard Wigan Casino clobber for soul girls (or so I'm reliably informed).

The Second Doctor shows up to help with the crisis at the start of the story - only for The Master to reveal it's actually Salamander in disguise, who got carried in the TARDIS' wake and wound up in London circa the Web of Fear, where he established a business empire based on his knowledge of future technology and then infiltrates UNIT (having caused the initial 'invasion') to get information about the TARDIS to make his own time machine to go and take over Victorian Britain. The Third Doctor stops him and he gets imprisoned in the 70s/80s. The story ends with him escaping prison...

The Unbound ones are a neat novelty...aside from the Arabella Weir, as others have said. That was a bit of a mistep.

The only Unbound one I've heard is the (first?) one with David Warner as the alternate Third Doctor and that's good enough that the rest could be absolute dogshit and I'd still say pick up the set.

It's too bad Whittaker hasn't had a clip where it's her - not in character, just her - saying, "Hello. I'm Jodie Whittaker, and I am the new Doctor!" like Capaldi did. I enjoyed that.

The Unbound Benny seasons, which is I think what you're asking about and not the original unbound set of releases that everyone else are talking about, are either pretty great to very very good. Also they feature the weirdest trademark dodging Dalek cameo in Who's history.

The Sutekh set has a pretty mediocre Justin Richards entry, but the other three are good.

Generally anything from the James Goss era (starting with the Dalek entry before the Sutekh set) are of a high standard.

I'm happy accepting that she was Mother Who, as Davies apparently wrote it. I think her being the Doctor's daughter/Susan's mother would work, too, though.

Joke answer: She's a later incarnation of Ace after she's graduated from the academy and gained the ability to regenerate

Her true identity is actually what Bill Murray whispered to Scarlett Johansson at the end of Lost In Translation, which was later written down and placed in the briefcase in Pulp Fiction. :v:

He’s incredibly sexist?

E: you know it’s interesting. If this had happened between 9 and 10 I would not have liked it. Not because I was against a woman doctor or I am secretly sexist or anything but because it would have felt like pandering since they’d never set up the fact that the Doctor (or any timelord ) might regenerate into a woman. I am okay now that they have taken the time to establish that yes, time lords can in fact switch genders when regenerating, so I am perfectly okay with it. It’s more to me about (oh lord) continuity. Like in the Movie (which I love) I am always very bothered by the “human on my mothers side” and the eye of harmony being literally in the TARDIS. I suppose we can handwave one away as a joke and the other as some kind of dimensional shortcut but it’s the disregard for (oh lord) cannon that bothers me.

Like if they want to do a female James Bond cool, go ahead but don’t just make a movie when OH HEY NOW HE’S A SHE, take the time to set it up ffs.
