I just found the official page for the DLC, which I don’t think was ever linked. https://www.totalwar.com/games/warhammer-ii/prophet-and-the-warlock/ It has some campaign stuff, including he Cult of Sotek’s starting locations, which I also don’t think were mentioned in the thread or other promo materials that were posted. Vortex start is just west of the southern cape of Lustria, and ME start is the Northern Great Jungle, just west of the Vampire Coast.

Do Tehenhauin and Ikit take part in the Vortex race, or do they have their own campaign victory conditions tied to their 'progress bar' mechanics (Sacrificing to Sotek and building the Doom Sphere)? I like playing on the vortex map, but I can't be bothered taking part in the vortex mechanics

I just beat my first Vortex campaign with Malekith a week or two ago, and the only real issue is figuring out the spawning points for the Chaos stacks. Watching them roll over your developed central provinces is infuriating though The last quest battle is also pretty fun.

Why, by the way, are there three settlements (that have found so far) called Vaul's Anvil? Does he keep losing them and leaving them around the place? Is vaul the shotgun wizard?

The actual vortex mechanics aren’t perfect but I love the quicker campaigns, the story focus, and the cutscenes. Vaul’s Anvil is a Warhammer elf version of naming something after a saint or Jesus or something. Vaul is a big god. Edgar Allen Ho fucked around with this message at 01:53 on Apr 9, 2019 |

There's an achievement for controlling all three Vaul's Anvils, isn't there? I just think of it as being like the various Londons around the world.

OwlFancier posted:Why, by the way, are there three settlements (that have found so far) called Vaul's Anvil? All three major elf groups have a bigass anvil (massive forgeworks) that is clearly Vaul's because they're the best elves and therefore Vaul would clearly bless their anvil and nobody else's.

Astute players may notice that 2/3 elf factions have quest battles at a specific one, and consider what this says about which Vaul’s Anvil is Correct and which elfs own it

Obviously the wood elves are the best elves. Wasn’t there something in the End Times about an avatar of vaul hanging out with the Wood Elves as well?

I'm not sure wood elves are related to high elves. If they are then those glowing rocks are obviously radioactive given how mutant they are. Orion is clearly a beastman undercover.

all the elves have the same pantheon, they just worship different chunks of it depending on what their values are vaul is the god of Making poo poo which is a shared interest is all

The oldest living elf is probably Morathi. She married the first pheonix king. The wood elves pretty much happened when durthu found the everqueen who was the first wife of the pheonix king. Not a lot of time happened between these events. Think about that if you wonder if any wood elf, high elf, or dark elf are not related to each other. EDIT: all elves are the same race. The VCs have the accents and the von Lastnames, but not really anything with their units. Third World Reagan posted:There is only one elf and Malekith is their king. That one elf is also Malekith. Ikrit starting in Skavenblight will make Belegar's start even more bullshit. You'd have to count on Vampirates and Rats going on a hellwar and leaving you to deal just with Gobbos.

The VCs have the accents and the von Lastnames, but not really anything with their units. I'd say there is. Except it's mostly to the north instead of the east. Kislev is also not just Russian and Polish, it's also got a pretty strong Turkic/Tatar thing to it, with the horse archers and such. In the fluff, Kislev is kind of split ethnically between the Gospodar majority culture (who are slavs) and the Ungol nomads (who are the Turk/Tatar analogue) who predominate in the north and east. Then beyond Kislev to the north and east over the mountains you basically have endless chaos-worshipping steppe nomads, Kurgans (who in terms of name and general "role" is based on Turkic/Scythian peoples, but appearance mostly based on the villains from the Road Warrior really), who are the people who would make up the majority of Chaos invasions in the Old World, alongside the Norscans. On that last note I kind of hope they put in some non-player Marauder factions in Game 3 that have a more cavalry focused roster to reflect that these would not be Norscans, but Kurgans.

Cardiac posted:This is the best part of the DLC. I usually hate fighting Wood Elves, but I've never fought them with a race that: 1) has units it can freely throw out to die, 2) can literally summon units right on top of the enemy, 3) can shoot with the best of them. I recognize that Vampirates can do this, but doing it with my ratbois? Worth the asking price and more, I reckon.
