Socialism would work fine with a better driver. Under liberalism, while it appears that capital and labour are equal, closer inspection reveals capital is in control.

I hope they figure out something by then, but the current government doesn't have a great track record with that kind of stuff.

Australia is a country full of vile assholes some of whom have been running it (into the ground) for the last 7 years. Not to mention all the funding they cut to fire services and the water they sold to mining/farming interests. EDIT: To be clear the cartoonist "Pope" is being critical of this and is one of the few good things coming out of Australia's racism factory aka political cartoons.

Ah, didn't notice the quotes, and the hand-rubbing was close enough to a folded-hand benevolent praying gesture that I interpreted the guy as being actually-well-meaning. But, still, the fact that I saw that comic and went "holy poo poo are they actually trying to paint salvage loggers as the good guys who are saving the cute baby animals in this situation" kinda tells you the overall vibes Australian cartoons have given off over the past few months.

As I interpreted it, they're also not helping save the animals so much as helping uncover them so that the ferals on the left can get at them.

Also note that the animals lifting the log are a cat and a fox, introduced predators. They are lifting the log to get at the animals hiding underneath it.
