this isn't even some archaic procedure that you can blame on the constitution or something, it's entirely up to the democratic party to fix it (apparently the current system is "simplified" compared to previous years already lol)

After 2016, progressives wanted to get rid of superdelegates, who had mostly supported Hillary (though it ultimately didnt matter). Moderates meanwhile wanted to get rid of caucuses, because they appeared to have favoured Bernie relative to normal primaries (again, didnt matter). So a compromise was struck whereby superdelegates could not vote except in cases of a brokered convention, which are unheard of under the modern system. In exchange, all remaining caucus states switched to a ballot system. You can probably guess which super-super-special, first-in-the-nation state got to keep its archaic, 19th-century-rear end caucus.

also, the company has close ties to one of the candidates' campaigns, and that particular campaign also paid that company a bunch of money for some reason. also, the company is literally named "shadow"

can't imagine why the Dems literally refused to disclose what company was behind the app. it only got leaked after people got pissed because the app was a disaster

Actually it looks like I was wrong in this case on the exact way that the caucus system is dumb. In this case it was dumb in a different manner.

The precinct has 8 total delegates, but rounding each result to the nearest whole only got them a total 7, so the extra delegate goes to the one who has the highest decimal portion below .5 (because otherwise it would've already been rounded up) - So if for example Warren had 2.4, the extra delegate would have gone to her.

this is not a surprise to me at all cuz i've been seeing google doing this poo poo forever in their maps database

go to google maps, pick any restaurant, and go to the photos of the restaurant inside maps (not clicking out to yelp or anything)

as you scroll thru, you'll find Weird pics that are not of the restaurant, just random poo poo that gets associated to it off people's phones.

my only thought is, that people go out and do $thing, turn their phones off/have no cell service, go to get something to eat and turn it back on, photos upload automatically from android, and then google tags them as the restaurant photos instead of where they originally were. It's all over the place

Maps will detect that photos were taken vaguely close to the place then ask if you want to upload them in a notification. if you poke the notification it'll have them all lined up pre-selected for upload. you have to manually de-select the unrelated/junk ones and I'm guessing some people don't notice or care to do that because people are dumb and lazy in general

A friend of mine took a picture of literal vomit on the sidewalk. maps popped up a suggestion that she upload / tag it as a nearby place. she did because lol, and now she gets 'engagement' emails saying like 'Wow! Your photo on maps has 900,000 views. <img-sidewalk-vomit> That's great. Upload more blah blah'

A Pennsylvania man who operated one of the Internets longest-running online attack-for-hire or booter services was sentenced to five years probation today. While the young mans punishment was heavily tempered by his current poor health, the defendants dietary choices may have contributed to both his capture and the lenient sentencing: Investigators say the onetime booter bosss identity became clear after he ordered a bacon and chicken pizza delivered to his home using the same email address he originally used to register his criminal attack service.
