Car crashes are a part of life too. We still have government entities work to reduce their occurrence and investigate/punish those deemed responsible for them.

A site like that, if it wants to operate for long, is going to require confirmed personal info for tax reporting purposes, too.

Methanar posted:Why does a clothing department store need the same facial recognition technology as ICE because every retailer is desperate to shove ~targeted advertising~ and data mining and poo poo online retailers have into real life, but nobody actually knows how to do that because it's a fundamentally stupid goal, so companies buy all sorts of weird bullshit like this to try to track people around the store and see what they're looking at and stuff. spoiler: none of it works worth a drat unless you actively engage with it and help it out as a customer by diligently remembering to use your loyalty card and give them your personal info and all that other stuff, and even then it still doesn't work because the advertising industry is all lies anyway

Dylan16807 posted:Isn't that a natural consequence of allowing accessibility apps? A screen reader needs to be able to read the screen. it's more a problem of google not giving a poo poo about what gets listed in the android app store, combined with device manufacturer fragmentation and refusal to update their devices. also, over the years a lot of legitimate apps have abused the accessibility APIs on android because it was the only way to create certain features, or it was the only way to allow users not on the latest android OS to still get the new feature you've been hyping up in your app's new update. this has trained many android users to not care that apps want to do screen-scraping because "oh that's the same feature that makes it so my (legitimate) password manager can function"
