On the one hand, I love the animation and how he moves. Incorporating his serpent form and that weird spider head move he does was a good idea. On the other hand, something about this characterization doesn't feel quite right to me. In the game, he seemed like too big of a deal to go around poking out kids' balloons and stealing candy, you know? Doesn't he have a casino to run? e: also that fuckin' red-letters-on-black "COME ON GUYS LET'S GET TO 400 SUBSCRIBERS" is like someone socked me right in the eye. paradoxGentleman fucked around with this message at 15:28 on Jul 11, 2020 |

Yeah, that seems kind of low on characterization.

I was just thinking how I loved the 50s Tex Avery/Disney instructional and world of tomorrow shorts. They've always been my favorite type of classic cartoon. Racist and sexist as all get out but have to accept it was a product of the time.

so i'm almost done with season 2 of TLA. i used to be of the opinion that as great as season 2 was, i liked season 1 better. rewatching it though, i think i change my mind. s1 is still great obviously, but less enjoyable the second time around, whereas season 2, particularly the episodes post-entering ba-sing-se are more enjoyable for me this time around. i do have a question, though. the dai-lee seem to have metal gloves that they use to both attack and subdue people with. but that can't be right, since toph was the first metal bender, wasn't she? i mean, that was the whole big deal about her escaping that big metal casing she was trapped in, right?

COVID's done hosed a lot of things and that project got put on hold for it too.

Tig N' Seek on HBO Max is super cute and worth a look if you don't mind cartoons that are unapologetically for kids. It's decently animated and has some really good gags and some fun character work utilizing what feels like a semi-improvised acting style. Semi-related HBO Max really needs to make it easier to tell what animation is for adults/kids. The age rating doesn't show up unless you've already started an episode so I wasn't at all sure what I was getting into until I actually watched the drat thing.

They've announced four more series of Dragon Prince, so it'll be up to 7. I liked the show but series 3 was kinda rushed - it felt a bit like Babylon 5's fourth season where they're desperately cramming because they're certain they're going to be cancelled.
