It's a pretty common analogy structure, you take someone who's widely acknowledged to be the best at something in their era (e.g. Michael Jordan at 1990's American basketball, Admiral Horatio Nelson at early 1800's naval warfare) and then you apply it to something you're good, or possibly the best, at, but outside the original analogy's subject's area of expertise (e.g. I'm the Admiral Horatio Nelson of posting stupid poo poo in PYF).

I almost used i.e. instead of e.g. twice in this post, but fortunately I'm the David Beckham of catching incorrect uses of Latin abbreviations on a second read through.

It's an Indian English phrase, and it's starting to creep into wider use because of how much our tech industry interfaces with their's. I manage two Indian teams and all of our support is based there and it's an extremely common phrase along with several other Indianisms that sound weird to our ears.

Apricot One is just which ever apricot the president is eating at the time. Apricot Two is the one the vice president is eating. It's not very hard.

Yeah, this. I'm a software developer and I work both with Indians living in the US and with a separate team based in India and Indian English definitely has its unique phrases. The one that trips me up the most is they will usually say "I have doubts" instead of "I have questions".

Apparently it was a very common British phrase, I don't know why it never made it to America and then fell out of use in the UK while still being used in India.

ACKSHUALLY the current vaccines for COVID are RNA based which is not the live or dead virus at all, just enough of its genetic material to force your body to make antibodies. Live/dead virus vaccines are a lot harder to make and take longer to manufacture. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RNA_vaccine

I have it on good authority that the Electoral College operates at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. 20500.

U.S. Marshals should attempt service there.

(I originally had this joke as “1 Observatory Circle NW, Washington, D.C. 20008”, because it’s a little less known, but they actually intentionally named the resident in the filing!)

Giving 'em the old razzle-dazzle

This is loving me up a little

Specifically the drowning as a method

It's like the difference between "wombats will knock you to the ground and claw the gently caress out of you" and "wombats will invite you to their burrow under the pretence of sharing a cask of rare sherry before chaining you to the wall and bricking you in"
