I was excited cause it looked like someone realized they were in a category they liked down against a strong player and understood they needed to bet big instead of just falling into the habit of betting the difference or a little less, and then they got a gimme clue...

To balance it out was I the only one dumb enough to, having blanked on the Ewan McGregor movie, think "blacksmith" on that ferroequinewhatever clue?

It's kinda going unnoticed how good this guy is but he seems really good.

Brian played better tonight, but he's been driving me crazy. He wants to be James and he thinks he's James by bouncing all over the board. But unless it's geography, he rarely gets high dollar clues.

What's saving him, besides geography, is that he doesn't miss much.

Mad that she said vampire when 'alpha' was in the clue.

I've realized I don't know any pop culture lmfao; I had zero idea about the final clue and just guessed Mad World because I couldn't think of anything else.

This. It's really frustrating watching all the high-value clues going away with no one answering them because he's starting off with them and just isn't good enough to pull it off.

My philosophy...
The first rule is:
You look good.
Is Brian doing anything besides not being wrong to win so many games? It seems like you don't hear from him a ton, and all of a sudden he's got a big lead going into FJ. He's finishing with decent scores.

Gabriela was doing well in the beginning, and I hoped she could take down Brian, but she couldn't recover after missing that werewolf question. Between that and FJ, she wasn't good enough at answering clues that were obvious from the context of the questions.

He's quick on the buzzer and so he's getting a lot of the lower-value clues, which gives him a big lead because most of the higher-value ones end up being triple stumpers. That combined with relatively aggressive betting on Daily Doubles when he knows the categories is getting him through.

If he runs into someone who can answer all the $2k clues he's done for.

I got to Iron Horse and given another minute would have made the train connection, but I didn't get it by the time the clue was solved.

I only got Final Jeopardy after Ken pointed out the significance of 1999 in the answer.

I didn't even bother trying to solve it that way. I just tried to think of a famous Ewan McGregor movie from that time and trainspotting sounded like it could be a hobby.

E: Honestly I solve a lot of them that way, by ignoring the "main" clue and figuring it out from one of the other hints.

Part of why Brian keeps winning is because whoever is in first or second place will miss a gimme of a Double Jeopardy question

Same, it was the first thing to come to mind for Ewan McGregor (weirdly) and I was able to backfit it to the Iron Horse part.

I don't know about you all, but I've gotten to the point where I don't really think about Alex during the game. Yeah, there's things I'm sure he'd do better than Ken, but it's a testament to how well designed the game is that, once it's going, I don't think about the difference between him and Ken.

Ken recorded six weeks of episodes. Executive producer Mike Richards has two weeks of episodes in the can to air after Jennings, at which point Couric's episodes begin.
