This may have been discussed already but I did an update of Edge a week or so ago because I need to use that brower for a specific volunteer work web application sometimes.

And after updating Microsoft decided it was ok to put this searchbar in the middle of my desktop.. this is on Windows 10. You can disable it but ugh.

A little "try the new teams" switch appeared in the teams titlebar today so I tried it

so far all it can do is fail to log in, restart, and fail to log in again. At least the old teams would get it right after 3 attempts, this new one just loops forever

even if it did work, it would ask you if you wanted to use the new teams every time you opened it. so would the old one. they have separate icons and everything, but they will nevertheless prompt you on every launch, just to be sure

flattened and reinstalled my home pc the other day to clear out a bunch of junk, and lol at how needy Edge gets when you google for Chrome or Firefox.

“You don’t need another browser, Edge is secure!”
“Edge is based on Chromium there’s no point getting chrome!”

it’s kinda sad and pathetic, like breaking up with someone who isn’t taking it well.

going against microsofts wishes is the only thing about windows that still gives me any modicum of joy

bypassing the mandatory microsoft account with shift-f10 and the OOBE\BYPASSNRO trick
replacing chedge, uninstalling all the bundled "modern" apps, setting the password hint for the local user to "gently caress you microsoft"

that kind of thing

if they worked i would be fine with these, as chrome has nagged me with "on chrome this would be much more secure" and similar pop-over nonsense on every google-made website for like a decade+ by now

the worst part about about all these failed ms crapware products is that they bundle all of them in the enterprise ms365 subscription so you are guaranteed to have someone in your organization trying to force you to use them all to get "value" out of their giant ms cloud bill

my org has people whose KPI is to get people on viva engage so of course they closed all the active/public yammer communities and created new ones that only admins can post in

back at a bank I worked at it was in our performance metrics to “increase collaboration” by posting on the team yammer page so every year around review season it would get 100 new posts then go back to nobody using it for another 11.5 months

Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Win opens Office on my machine.
Pair the above with P and it opens Powerpoint on the browser, same for X (Excel), etc. L for MS-owned LinkedIn I guess. is LinkedIn now part of the office suite?

I tried Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Win+S and it popped up a window saying bikes suck and cars are awesome

It sure does work even on Win10. Holy poo poo.

It's not that I'm even particularly surprised MS sneaked in a shortcut, but they made it Ctrl-Shift-Alt-Win-L. Like who the gently caress would ever press that combination even if your job required posting poo poo there? When just typing a few letters like "lin" in the browser would be enough.

i wonder if someone sales or product dweeb wanted a custom keyboard key that could launch linked in like calc or browser, but the devs said no thats stupid and the "compromise" was an arcane shortcut that no human would use but could be easily macroed in hardware on a keyboard
