Slovenia and Slovakia are both proportionally terrible at reading. Personally I blame confusion over which country they're in. How're you supposed to read if it's impossible to differentiate the name of your country from another one?

I know it does say 'leaders' at the top but it's jarring to get to the bottom of the graph and see 'league average.'

right, my bad

there is an insistence to having a precise cause of death when it's just "they got old and that was it" so they write morbus cordis or somthing and thats like ok yeah thats the actual "cause" but its not why they died
God, that drives me crazy. I see people filling out death certificates as 'cardiac arrest due to respiratory failure due to pneumonia' and I'm all JUST WRITE PNEUMONIA! It fucks up the stats if you don't write pneumonia!

Technically you could define death as 'cerebral hypoxia caused by cardiac arrest caused by ACTUAL CAUSE' for about 90% of causes of death, but that's only true in the most pedantic of senses, and doesn't give you any useful information on a population level.

I was asked to list countries I had visited recently today, Svalbard was a menu choice for some reason.
Svalbard has a somewhat weird status - it's not part of any Norwegian county (though it is part of the Kingdom of Norway) and is an entirely visa-free zone. Hence the former Soviet mining colonies on Norwegian land. Although it's not a dependency and I'd count it as part of Norway if I was listing countries I'd visited.

By contrast the Russian Arctic islands are attached to one of the 85 federal subjects of the Russian Federation broken up into five types you will learn in our explanation and are more 'normal' bits of land.

Edit: also Svalbard apparently has no representation in the Storting, because the constituencies are equivalent to Norwegian counties.

The tail end of that is great, you just have all these major, historical international cities, and also Charlotte.
Also, this is from pages and pages ago, but I question some of these cities - specifically Vancouver. While most of the city is on a true north-south grid, the downtown peninsula (which represents ~10% of the area of the city) is very much on a 45° angle. There are other, smaller, grids as well, per here. You'd think you'd see some signal on the compass.

The cartogram of most of the Prairie cities like Edmonton probably looks like Madrid's - a strong cardinal direction signal from the older grid, but then a mess of multidirectional streets from the new suburban sprawl.

The most "WTF, reality" number for me is that only 37% of adults have a passport.
