although iirc he initially wanted the falcon heavy to have fuel crossfeed from the boosters to the central core but that got scrapped which almost certainly means there was at some point a very serious meeting where his top engineers sat him down and told him that he can't just promise to include things from kerbal space program

god is there anything more repugnant than journos fawning over the ~~tragic billionaire~~ and trying to make it out like he's just a dude like you or i but with so much crushing responsibility he's really a modern-day atlas, how sad i was going to make some joke about how it'd be like a feudal lord getting all the town criers to proclaim to the peasants how overworked and stressed he is, but then realized if anything it's worse than that since: a) a lord couldn't easily abdicate his position without causing problems, while musk absolutely could just retire tomorrow - except he thinks he's so much smarter than everyone else that no one but him could possibly provide the necessary leadership, and b) unlike a lot of people today, peasants actually understood their place in the system and knew that it didn't matter how hard they worked, they would never be the king (not defending entrenched social hierarchies just stating the fact that no one reading this is ever going to be a billionaire [sorry]) so while a lord complaining to a peasant would be totally a dick move, i actually don't think it's as heinous as this late-capitalism "billionaires are our friends, sympathize with them" bullshit narrative they try to sell us all the time

lol i had my first robotic work cell integration class today and i've had the instructor before and he was a big tesla fan; pre-ordered the model 3 and everything he has canceled his order and we used the example of musk headbutting a car on the assembly line to start our discussion on industrial safety systems surely the tesla board of directors must see that musky's antics are costing them actual customers who were formerly willing to drop the better part of 100 grand on their product

when people find out I work with industrial robots theyre inevitably like "haha so when are they going to take over the world" and honestly i think it's a classification error; the word "robot" is just too broad there's like zero overlap between the type of robot you use in auto manufacturing and the type that can use deep learning or whatever to deal with unexpected situations, and from the standpoint of a robot, a soft part being in a slightly different configuration is an "unexpected situation" things like installing wiring harnesses or placing those flame barrier mats on top of the battery modules are so clearly suited to human hands and Musk is a goddamn moron if he somehow can't understand this
