Isn't staying in a bad situation trying to get your money out exactly what the sunk cost fallacy describes?

the fallacy is the idea that you can get already spent costs "back" by spending more. so it depends on how her alleged investment is tangled up with her husband. If it's just an issue of waiting for something to vest or mature, then I don't think it would be a sunk cost fallacy. If it depends on husband actually running the business well, the it's probably the fallacy.

No one's defending cheaters, I was responding to the thing from like three pages ago? It always weirds me out that people think that's like, admirable instead of horrifying. If you hate someone don't raise a child with them.

if you want to raise your kid(s) and don't want to take the drastic step of getting full custody and cutting off access, you kinda do have to raise them together, in one form or another

Language evolves, but giving a tour guide or translator poo poo over an edge case that's incorrect outside of that specific context when English isn't their primary language in the first place is a jerk move. "Same word means different things at different times" is one of those things that can make languages tricky for people learning them.

I do think the freezer beer situation did merit escalation, but i'm not unsympathetic to the plight of the shift working guy. he might be a man-child that thought he was marrying a wife-mom, but it seems as likely to me that his current lifestyle is what is impairing his ability to deal with his own messes. i do think he's gotta stop putting beers in the freezer. seems like this could be solved by mutual apologies for their transgressions and one of those beer mugs you can throw in the freezer to make it really cold.

If he's actually just doing a $10 dose of mushrooms every 3-4 months instead of using daily antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds (likely benzos or something else that will absolutely mess your poo poo up REAL good), he's probably fine.

If we're going to assume (as some posters are) that he's a junkie burnout who is also regularly doing coke and adderall, and then *checks notes* uh, coming down with loving ketamine, then that's definitely a problem.

A problem that requires us to make some very ungenerous assumptions. Hey, shouldn't we maybe consider that the asexual kid who is creeped out about mom and dad's 24/7 BDSM lifestyle is actually schizophrenic and just hallucinated all that poo poo?

Jesus, goons.

i think it's okay to put limits on teens' phone access like that if you as the parent impose the same limits on your usage. if the rationale is that it's good sleep hygiene to not use your screens after a certain time, then there should be no issue with everyone limiting their access for better sleep.
