The one metal thing is that the French will absofuckinglutely riot over anything that like this that pisses them off and it often though not always results in some walk back whenever poo poo like this happens. Like that's not an understatement, they've been riots where firefighters start fighting the cops because the firefighters were pissed off about some union thing.
