I finally spotted OUYAs in the wild at the local Target the other day. I still didn't buy one but it was interesting to finally see them make an appearance. They were over in a neglected aisle end along with $90 game controller grips for your android phone, which is probably a better item despite being even more overpriced and lovely.

What Fun posted:OuroborosPants, either come clean about the whole story with your failed website and console or stop making quips about it. There's no story. I had hopes that OUYA would do well originally. Then it came out. At first there were a couple fun games and some support from indie developers but both of those things got worse over time until the point where no good games were either being released or even planned for it. Someone hired me to write on their website for a few months but that wasn't a huge success either, which is partially our fault and partially because you can't run a website about a failing unpopular game system. I don't know what kind of massive conspiracy you're looking for but there are no crashed Ferraris here.

To my mind, I haven't done a 180. It's not like I thought the OUYA was great and now I've changed my mind. Instead, I thought it was possible the staff was competent enough that if the system got enough support from developers & consumers, it could turn into a fun platform. But the system didn't really get much consumer or develop support, and so it shriveled up. And it turned out that the staff wasn't very competent either, so even if they got more support it probably wouldn't have succeeded. I thought it was possible that some unknown people would be competent at their job. They weren't. I don't think that giving people a chance, even if they let you down, makes you "wrong" but if you disagree I can see where you're coming from. The problem was there was only 'big people' and they sourced out all the dirty work to Chinese design houses which would only ever produce a turd on the couple of million they had to work with. The only surprise in the last bawb video was that they finally have seemed to hire someone who is semi-competent in embedded hardware and code, but its far far too late.

It's not that I'm angry about you being "wrong", it's just frustrating that you battled so fervently for every bad OUYA decision up to a point. Then, with no real explanation, you just started pitching in with the rest of the thread every now and again. It's not that I'm expecting a meltdown post, I guess it was just really anticlimactic. Just like a certain game console launch. Anyway, I really don't have any anger towards you - I've gotten so much entertainment from reading your posts, how could I? It's just a letdown that we never got to see your breakthrough moment. I hope you find a writing job that you love and that pays you, someday.

Well, one of the big people was a design person. Who proceeded to make designs without considering the electronics and mechanics fitting in at all.
