In retrospect, the world did feel a bit empty, a lot of the minigames and sidestuff didn't hook me, but what did got me really well. As a first experience, it felt tame enough to not overwhelm, but I can see how as a longtime fan, it'd be too little. I was destroyed for about a minute or three, too.

Like, it's a spinoff title not many people are likely to pick up, not a main series entry, which have all traditionally been sub-only anyway. Makes sense to me. Standalone story that could break the franchise to bigger heights, while, say, if you dub Yakuza 6 then the people who might care that it's in English won't want to go through five other entries, and the people who will get Yakuza regardless are goddamned mega weebs that already watch anime sub.

Well, I can't sleep and it's like three hours before my day begins. My girlfriend is fast asleep so I can't turn on the PS4 and play more Judgment. I also learned about the difference between Judgement and Judgment thanks to this game, and that Judgment was even a word! Nonetheless, not being able to play made me think of the story some more and I am connecting dots, so here's spoilery thoughts from the middle (late?) of chapter 3 I beat up Crow pretty bad and was on my way to meeting that corrupt cop. So I'm thinking The host witness from Homura's trial is definitely Jester. And I feel so dumb that it took me thinking about the game at 3am to realize that they're fleshing out Jester's character so much at the same time as they talk about 100 million yen being stolen from the family. That was likely the thieves' first hit. Jester is probably connected even deeper into all this, perhaps has a bond with The Mole (who is probably the patriarch of homura's jacuzzi gangster band) unless Jester IS the Mole, since he's fueled by revenge apparently, and killing jacuzzies fits that. Homura's role in the story appears to be to 'cloud' the 'eyes' of those who are just; the patriarch losing his role, Kaito becoming disgraced, and of course Homura is somehow behind the fire and thus Yagami doubting his Judge Eyes. So Jester being a 'victim' of Homura's tactics would line up. Very good story and game so far. But also I'm doing Yosuke's host bullshit and i got wasted five times in a row with that girl but Yosuke keeps telling me to go to Apple Pie and drink some more.

Last time I posted, I was speculating on how the 100 million were stolen. Turns out it was a hobo lol anyway, i've gone through one cutscene that's in chapter 3 and have been on a side-quest rampage since. I'm getting so many friends, eating so much food. I love friends, I love that Ryan the Ninja is now my fight buddy and when some cases have me call up friends so solve things and my gun on the drone. This game is great.

I did chapter 5 earlier today playable flashback case where you dont have any of your upgrades is my jammmm. Anyway i guess this has all been to cover up some poo poo about ds-9? Ryan has been the only one pure enough to see Makoto, and he's always lending a helping kunai in fights. Can I date Ryan so Yagami is forced to watch Boruto?

The noir tales of Yagami and his buddy Ryan Acosta the american ninja who hangs on walls. Bummed to hear about the other 2 romance options. Deffo felt lame that the ones I had gotten so far had sexual assault as part of their story.

Judgment question, I'm in Chapter 9: Ayabe's trial will pretty much be the climax of the game, right? I kinda thought it'd be solved quick, but Chapter 8 was really brisk and I just googled the number of chapters. I was thinking of focusing on the story until my pal was in the clear, but I should probably be spending these next couple chapters on side stuff before I reach big endgame?

I love that Judgment's biggest connection to the main series is an Ono Michio sidequest also, chapter 10 spoilers cleaning up sidequests and friendships while we got Homura tied up in a Kyorei clan hideout feels ver, very rewarding.

67 hours later I have beaten Judgment. Great story, if shockingly 'simple'. Definitely would like another go as Yagami, but im kinda cool with his story ending here as a cool one-off. Tried the secret boss for a bit before giving up and watching a video. Next week its scifi kamurocho with stands.

The thing with Koga is that guns in this game are loving dangerous. In story they're used extremely coldly, and it's reflected fair enough in gameplay when handguns do insane knockback, mortal damage and damage. Guns are powerful, fitting for this more grounded game.
